I love that movie too.

Last time I checked it was on youtube though that was a few months ago.

Love that movie so much   and I would have never known about it if not for a review show so glad I know about it now :D

Ahh. I suppose it's bad that I've never seen it?

Look for a Broadway version the movie hired a man who couldn't sing to play the male lead.

Plot twist :- Ducks are an Antivan delicacy. Part of the romance arc with Josephine will include a romantic dinner date in Skyhold with  Antivan wine and roasted ducks, followed by intense snogging and Antivan message.

Truth be told I've kind of secretly always wanted a dinner date to be part of a romance in a RPG.

The ultimate irony is that I also find ducks very tasty. You can blame my dad. He got me to try duck when I was a wee babby, and now I can't deny that they are tasty despite how much I want to cuddle them :<

I do also want to dissuade people from referring to Josephine as a mafia princess. This doesn't come from a canonical correction standpoint (since I obviously can't discuss anything like that), but more that it's just ... sort of a slur, at least within the context of Italian-American culture. You don't really call someone "mafia princess" and mean it in a positive, or even a neutral way--the term is very loaded and absolutely derogatory, particularly since it's an attack made at young, wealthier Italian (or Russian, as the other notable mob culture at least in the American Northeast) women. It carries a lot of "spoiled brat" and "taking advantage of dirty money" connotations as well. I know it's a trope term (thanks, TV Tropes), but it's also a real-life insult. If you wouldn't call Zevran a goombah, you shouldn't call Josie a mafia princess, particularly because she's from a country partially inspired by Italy.

The assumption that Josie's family employs or has employed the Crows is a very reasonable one to make given what we currently know about Antiva, and there is certainly a lot of room to debate this both before and after the game comes out! But it makes me cringe to see that term used for her given its real-life connotations.

Edited to add: I am so not angry at anyone right now, by the way! I just saw someone use the term and remembered it coming up a few times earlier in the thread after Josie was revealed, so I figured I'd provide the cultural context of the term :)

That's one reason why I personally prefer to use Yakuza Princess even if the person isn't Japanese. That term has a much more neutral connotation than Mafia Princess. I don't think I've ever seen it used in a negative way, and in quite a few cases used in a positive way.

Now that balls have been mentioned I have somewhere unfinished banter before ball (after Vivi's been recuited thou). Josie pretty much tries to keep people like Cass and Sera from killing someone as Vivi is in all her own world with all the clothing planning xD

For some reason I read that as 'dinner plate' and imagined an argument with dishes being thrown about...emoticon_ShiftyEyes.gif

Sera and Iron bull throwing dishes around with varric anvd Blackwall laughing their asses of. Vivienne being absolutely horrified and Josie and Cass trying to get order in their respective ways. Oh yeah that awesome picture

To bring this back to Josie, I can imagine her saying 'commoners have such creative forms of entertainment'. :D

Or maybe shaking her head about it. And breaking up the play when some shoe goes through the nearest window. Making both Sera and Bull feel like kids. Actually I think she might be good at that: making people feel like they're five years old scolded by their ma

And when I read that you read that I thought briefly about a dinner plate as a LI. I'm all for fine china, but I think that's one line I could ever cross...

Why would you think I am so twisted? Oh right.  :bandit:

And because horrible puns are part of my evil arsenal: talk about plate-onic love. *demented laugh*
