9:46 Dragon, 10th Day of Kingsway

Ansburg, Antiva

My dearest sister Josephine,

I write to you with a grieving heart. Our beloved city, beautiful Antiva City, has fallen to the Qunari invaders. They came at the break of dawn, caught us completely off-guard. We knew that they were besieging Llomerryn, but not that the island had fallen so quickly. Who could even have suspected that they would cut through our Armada with such ease? By the time they landed ashore, Rialto Bay was filled with burning ships.

It fills me with joy that you were not here to witness the horrors, dear sister. Our house, burnt to the ground; Crows cut down in the streets; women and children thrown from the buildings. Remember the olive garden out back, in which we used to play? The one that belonged to master Agapito? Oh sorrellina, I wish I didn't have to tell you how the trees went up in smoke, how the horned giants hung the servants from their branches. Agapito tried to defend his home, but he was thrown into the street and trampled by the fleeing masses. Within less than a few hours the entire city was abandoned, or so I have been told.
You need not worry about us, sister: we Montilyets have always been strong. We fled the city as soon as possible, and made our way down south to Ansburg. It's been two days since then at the time of writing; father has already left for Wycome, to rally what is left of the Felicisima Armada. I will be joining him shortly, while mother and our two younger sisters will make their way to Starkhaven. Prince Vael shall welcome us with open arms, I am sure of it. How could he not, considering a member of our family is betrothed to the Inquisitor himself?

I urge you not to come north, sorrellina. We will be fine. Remain in Skyhold. Mother promises to send you a letter soon, as will I once I have reached Wycome. Before long this war shall be over, and we will come visit you. Give my nephew a hug from me.

Stay safe, Josie.

Your loving brother,

Damiano

So umm.... I wrote this, because I suddenly felt like it. Haven't really put a lot of time into it so it could've been done better, but I don't want to spend too much thought on this.

For some reason I have this theory that if a Qunari invasion ever were to happen, it'd not begin in Tevinter. I believe the Qunari would try to fight their way around, maybe try one of the weaker countries that might possibly have been weakened by the Breach. So, let's say they invade via Antiva. What would that do to Josephine and her family? This letter is the result of that train of thought.

But as I said, it's more of a concept than an actual fleshed-out thing, so don't judge it too harshly.

Oh and that art is... fluffy. I find it to be very fluffy.

Great letter!

I'll just leave this here......

So that's what going mad feels like...

This reminds me that I should really get Tomb Raider one of these days.

You haven't played the re-boot TR yet, gurl pls. Yeah do get on that asap. Dat game is glorious and I ship em, I ship em hard! :D

Well, all my money went to getting a next gen console and then to supporting DA by getting the Inquisitor's Edition of the game and strategy guide. :D

I'll put it on my Christmas list.

It's a great game, good story and fun to play..... and also filled with numerous and gruesome ways to die that always entertain!

Thanks! :)

Yes, the Tomb Raider reboot is great... had never played a TR game before it, and I'm glad I did get my hands on it because after that I played Tomb Raider Legend and that one is awesome.

Goes without saying that I was pretty pissed at the recent announcement about Rise of the Tomb Raider, though.

Well, LB, now you must write an epistolary fanfic! A series of letters between Josephine and her family! And maybe a few from the Inquisitor while they are away on a mission.

Yeah, if/when I get it it will be my first Tomb Raider game I've played(at least as far as I remember).

Isn't the exclusivity a timed one though, as in PS4 and PC will get it later?

Yes, but that was only confirmed after the initial announcement, so I'm still pissed about it.

Hey, I am one to hold a grudge when it comes to Microsoft. I still hate them for what they were trying to force on gamers with the Xbox One before they did an 180 two weeks after E3 2013.

Oh I love that! Just need to get some good ideas for it, though.

I played... the first two?  I think?  Maybe the third a bit?  I'd heard good (and some bad) about the reboot and when it came up cheap on (surprise surprise) Steam I snapped it up.

I believe that's the popular theory, though I've not heard much more of it after everyone's announcement-rage.

Oh, that's proper confirmed now?  Excellent.

Yes, get tomb raider. Its really good and surprisingly not sexist in its portrayal of Lara Croft. There aren't even ridiculous ass shots during the game.

I too was really pissed off with the xbone exclusive announcement and ecstatic that it was just another dirty Microsoft trick and it will eventually come out on PS4 and PC.

Well.... The atmosphere on the forums has gotten rather... unpleasant in the last two days. I shall return to my lair and wait until DAI comes out to rejoin you. But first, one last banter with Josie!

Cassandra: Why in Andraste's name didn't you tell us you were hurt?

Inquisitor: So you could accuse me of slowing us down? Besides, it's nothing serious.

Cassandra: You twisted your ankle! And you kept walking on it for a whole afternoon! How is that not serious?

Josephine: She did what? Oh Maker, that was unwise.

Inquisitor: Not you as well! I'm fine!

Josephine: I'll be the judge of that. Show me.

Inquisitor: What? No! I don't need you mothering me!

Josephine: Seeker, if you would?

Cassandra: Certainly. It's the left foot *restrains Inquisitor*

Josephine: Thank you, now let me see.  *removes Inquisitor's boot*

Inquisitor: *grumbling* Nosy, busybody mother hens.

Josephine: Shush! Well, this is bad. You should have been reasonable.

Inquisitor: *unintelligible reply*

Josephine: You are going to bed and staying there until this is healed.

Inquisitor: What, you're going to lie down on top of me to keep me there?

Josephine: No, but I will ask Iron Bull to do so if you do not behave.

Inquisitor: Come and keep me company, at least?

Josephine: Of course.

I'd love if you came back from a mission where you or party members have died (but not all so that it's not game over) that Josephine starts being all fussy like a mother hen. :D Or mother duck. :D:D

How can you say that? How many thugs does she kill in this game? At one badass point, she screams out "RUN YOU BASTARDS, I'M COMING FOR YOU ALL!" She then proceeds to kill a whole bunch of thugs who thought she'd be an easy target.

I'll definitely recommend Tomb Raider as well. There's something of a narrative disconnect between Lara's horror at her first kill (a controversial scene indeed) and the gameplay (particularly since captain headshot over here will never resist landing an arrow in someone's skull), and Lara is so NOT genre-savvy that it's hilarious, but the game is really wonderful. People have tried to complain about Lara's outfit being too sexy, but I strongly disagree. The entire point is that Lara was just chilling out in bed and then oh no shipwreck, so her outfit (a fairly modest tank top and pair of cargo pants, I'm just happy she was wearing shoes at the time and didn't have to John McClane the entire game) was never supposed to be practical, even though I find that it is. Lara is taken so far out of her comfort zone, both physically and metaphorically, in order to shape her into a hero, so I don't see why people are complaining that she was wearing a tank top without a jacket.

Also, it's really adorkable when she basically plummets down a hole into some ruins and basically immediately starts geeking out about an archaeological find, temporarily forgetting the danger to savor her discovery. It's a really human moment.

I loved that game to death, but is it wrong that the moment I loved the most was when Lara went "Ugh, I hate tombs!" ?

1.  Just a couple of topics with people going too far (politics is poison!). Sometimes it's tempting to say 'it's just a game. An entertainment medium'. And Oh Captain my Captain, how am I supposed to refuse when you put it like that? *mock sulk*

2. Are we your Duckies? Mmh... does being your duckie involve hugs? Because I'd be cool with that! :D

3. Huh, I might have to give Tomb Raider a look. Last game I played in that series was in the obvious polygon age.

But really I need a break from forum life because I have some plot bunnies that require a midwife...
