She is Antivan.

Not sure how the whole french convo here started tho.

Introverted Assassin got the ball rolling and I pounced on it. (I'm a cat! I can't help it!)

Ah, thanks.

With the French being posted I wasn't sure if it was said somewhere that her family was from Orlais. I wouldn't mind Leliana and Josephine having a conversation in Orlesian (French) though.

Imagine a fight between Josephine and Leliana: both yelling at each other for all Skyhold to hear, birds fleeing from the rookery at the sound. And the Inquisitor just swooning because of their voices.

Josephine doesn't strike me as the type who would raise her voice even if extremely angry.

Think we could get Ms Clark to do it?  If we ask nicely? And make sad duckie eyes?

I wonder if Josephine getting less hours of sleep would affect her at a time, make her do something clumsy (that hopefully ends up being cute instead of well the alternative).

Her profile says that she doesn't require much sleep. Still, I imagine sleep deprivation would accumulate over time.

That... is a good question. Its hard to imagine that you can concoct the power to blow up a chantry yet lack the resources for a caffeine rush. :L

Does coffee exist in Thedas?

According to the lore, it is one of Antiva's big exports:

Trade and exports

Antiva, as a coastal country with bustling ports, facilitates a great deal of trade, both through piracy and legitimate business. Some of this trade may be under the aegis of the Antivan Crows and their confederates.[10] The exports of Antiva are numerous and varied. Antiva is renowned for its admittedly unparalleled wines, as well as its coffee.[11] It is also known for its rubies[12] and diamonds.[13]Antivan leatherworking is also particularly exquisite, and its crafters are the envy of the known world.[14] In addition to leather Antiva produces fine weaving[15] and silk of great renown.[16] Antivan crafters also excel at the production of porcelain of a quality so fine light shines through,[17] as well as woodwork.[18] The country enjoys healthy trade with many nations, including the empire ofOrlais.[19]

How can my Inquisitor be expected to close the Breach without a cup of Antivan coffee?

Oh no, Avtiva is the coffee country. That could only mean one thing, Josephine is the princess of hipsters. This is going to be fun. I knew there was a reason I found her so cute.

I would halt my Inquisition for a chance to sip coffee with Josie anytime. Wonder how many sugars she'd take... she's already sweet enough : )

Oh, my, it's true, I just checked my copy of TME and Celene does remember drinking Antivan coffee with Lord Joseph Montbelliard.

The land of wine and coffee. As I've said in the past, Antiva sounds much more interesting for a city setting in a DA game than Kirkwall ever was.

That aside, I wonder what Josephine would think of other races.

I'm really starting to think that Josie might be a nice surprise.  Marjolaine's quote comes to mind, "You see before you a sweet, innocent girl, but don't let her fool you."  She was speaking of Leliana, but I think it could very well apply to Josephine.  Antivan trade is diverse and occasionally ruthless (assassins, don't you know.)  Its real power comes from the merchant princes, not the royalty.  A successful Antivan ambassador with experience dealing with all kinds of opportunity might be a very useful friend to have.  Didn't someone mention a velvet glove over an iron fist?  Underestimating her potential might be a foolish thing to do.
