Alistair was a templar too, wasn't he? And he didn't turn into a drug addict either.

The list of companions you could cast as "drug addicts" is fairly long- Morrigan, Wynne, Alistair, Merrill, Anders, Cullen, Vivienne, Solas, Dorian, and now (possibly) Cassandra. Of course, in DAI you could claim the entire inquisition is "addicted" to healing potions since they will apparently have to guzzle them non-stop to get through the game. As someone else said, it seems pretty harsh to wipe someone's character out to that one thing.

Isn't drug addiction (particularly in a situation where the addicts have been taught it's necessary and honorable) as valid a topic for the game to explore as topics like PTSD, abuses of power, etc.? I'm assuming all of the companions and advisers will hit on some sensitive subject. For Josephine, the appropriate uses of power, perhaps (my first reaction to hearing that the diplomatic adviser was Antivan was to wonder how she'll regard the use of the Crows and assassination)?

It always annoyed me that he got so pissy about it when he himself could not come up with an alternate solution. Sure, saddle me with all the hard choices and then complain about them.

I wish we'd had an option to confront him about it. It would have made for an interesting way to harden him.

Warden: You don't like the way I lead?

Alistair: No I don't! You're making a mockery of the Wardens!

Warden: Alright then. You can make the hard decisions from here on out.

Alistair: I told you I'm not good at that.

Warden: Well that's too bad. Unless you man up and take some responsibility, I don't want to hear you question me again.

*Of course that would only work if the Warden was being a jerk.*

Well what's funny is that when Alistair got mad, my Warden got mad back at him and then Ali apologized.

She looks like a pretty interesting character. Haven't really followed much about her lately.

So, another fic then, featuring my hypothetical qunari Inquisitrix, Isileth.  Guest-starring Josie!

The Judgement.

(on my newly resurrected FF.net page, which still has some old crap on it)

I know. I actually like Alistair but the man has the worst.timing.ever.

I don't remember if there was an option to say 'lucky you' when he says he forgot. It would have been appropriate.

You liked him? I didn't, whiny annoying man-child and his constant hero-worship gets old really fast. Therefore he is a drunk in my game, best Alistair.

I liked him well enough, yeah. I did want to slap some sense into him at times, but I'm all about tough love. :D

It must be why I love Cassandra so much.

The only character I really didn't like in Origins was Wynne. Preachy old goat. <_<

...I didn't have anyone I really disliked. Wynne reminded me as a bit of a overworrying grandmother which I can't say I have some issue with.

Only one I found distasteful was Fenris because he's a few impolite words.

Okay, I didn't mean to start a "Let's bash *insert character here*" in this thread. Please stop everyone.

Alistair is one of my favourites in DA:O. The only problem I had with him was in every single playthrough when I try to just be friendly, it ends with him being convinced we're soul-mates for whatever reason. >.>

Amen. Wynne was an annoying old hag. Alistair was my buddy, who needed to have some sense slapped into him a few times but a buddy non the less. CrimsonN7 is a meanie, leaving Alistair as a drunk. Terrible. :P

I rather liked Wynne, and especially enjoyed party banter with her involved in it. And better one preaching than one having the morality of said goat, IMO.

That was my main party too. Alistair and Leliana discussing Ferelden cuisine was too funny to pass up.

Morrigan was too ready to criticize me every time I decided to help someone. My city elf wanted to headbutt some sense into her sometimes, but they still ended up being best friends despite disagreeing all the time.
