Antivan coffee? So mainstream. Hipster Josephine prefers fair trade qunari-brewed tea.
(Yes, I know that's a terrible Photoshop job.)
@V: Yes, coffee is one of Antiva's major exports.
I was unware I wanted a Josephine in glasses until now.

Does Thedas even have glasses? I assume so because spyglasses were invented but you never see anyone wearing glasses.

King Maric had dwarven reading glasses.
I forgot about that. Thank you. ![]()
I bet they got monocles.
Also, hello Josephine thread.
Hello. Welcome to the thread. ![]()
Can't stop listening to this: a tumblr user made this incredible fanmix of music inspired by diff. nations in Thedas: http://captainallegr...each-music-of …
Spoiler
The original post seems to be gone so please excuse the fact that I linked to my own blog. TL;DR tumblr user zevrantiva is super talented!
Thought I'd post this here along with the description of the mix of music inspired by Antiva.
The leather on your skin is as soft as butter, and the wine in your cup is the best one can find in all of Thedas. The bartender is whispering sweet nothings to a woman beside you, while she caresses his waist... Or is she picking his pocket? As you look down at the bar, a crude carving of a crow stares back at you as a warning.
Welcome to Antiva.
Link to that particular mix: http://8tracks.com/avalonolava/antiva
I particularly like The Crows; the Hunt
But I love Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag so maybe that's why.

Out of curiosity I decided to google the date eyeglasses were invented, and it seems the first eyeglasses were invented in Germany in 1286. Since Thedas is at about the same level of development as medieval Europe, it is possible there could be eyeglasses. They were kind of funky looking though:

You guys seen this yet? I stumbled on it in another thread. Game looks nice, this looks like an earlier build though.
Ah yes. That video looks gorgeous.
Already has its own thread. http://forum.bioware...cs-pc-gameplay/
The fog that hangs over the ground looks really cool.

Yeah, it does. I'm especially in awe of the trees, though, and the way they fill the area and make it feel like a forest that is weighing down on the player.
I wonder if Josephine likes nature, or if she's the more urban type.

I hope she likes nature, mostly cuz i do too. =-P

Well, based on what we know about her I am going to assume she likes the sea, the beach, that sort of thing. But I wonder what she'd say about the Emerald Graves:
"Oh, how beautiful it is out here. A shame the trees block out the sun, though."
I wouldn't be surprised is she enjoyed the outdoors. I imagine she may surprise us with what she knows.
Josephine: "Oh, Inquisitor. Put those berries down, they're poisonous. These are the berries you want."
Inquisitor: "How do you know so much about the outdoors, Josephine?"
Josephine: "It comes with being a Merchant Princess. In case of the event of someone trying to assassinate us, I was taught how to survive in the wilderness since even hiding in a village isn't enough to hide from the Crows. But out in the middle of nowhere, you stand a good chance surviving until whatever misunderstanding took place was handled."

That's an... interesting idea. I quite like it, actually.
Of course, surviving out in the wilderness usually means being skilled with a weapon and going hunting, and that may bring Josie a little closer to the warrior-type which was talked about in her profile interview. It could easily be avoided as a topic but that's how I'd feel about it anyway.
So Allegra Clark posted some interesting tweets just now, about Josie... sort of.
Me: *mentions disinfecting cat belly*
@User: "The only thing I can picture in my head is Josie arguing with Cullen."
Me: *DIES*

I'm actually crying at the idea of Josie scolding Cullen while he hisses and the hairs on his furry collar thing stand straight up end omg

Well, she could always be more of a forager rather than a hunter. Without the need to hunt, all you need is a utility knife for everything else weapon-wise.
But if hunters are needed, I highly doubt a member of the Merchant families wouldn't have a few skilled bodyguards with them, small enough to go unnoticed but enough to put up a fight against enemies. Especially is the family member is a woman since Antiva see women as people who should be protected.

While that is true, it seems to me that "being taught how to survive in the wilderness" would also include learning what to do in the event of ending up in the wilds alone. I mean, such a thing is certainly a possibility.
But maybe you're right, and I'm thinking this through too much.
