The thing is that I'm not one of those "They should only be with me" but rather when they are paired off with others I can't romance them because it will break up that relationship. Garrus and Tali for example. My favorite LIs in the Mass Effect trilogy, and I can't romance them anymore. 
 
I hope you heard wrong. Or it is with people I don't particularly care much for.

You're not 'breaking them up' though. It just never happened. You're not breaking up a relationship because you inadvertently stopped some hypothetical relationship that happens in some alternate universe where you're not romancing them.

I sort of see it as a comfort. OK, I didn't romance Isabela, but she got Fenris as a consolation prize, which isn't too bad.

ive fought off ducks and geese and yeah its easy but swans? They are so fragile looking

They're tougher than they look. There is actually one case of a kayaker who drowned because a swan kept attacking him as he tried to swim to shore.

 

That said, unarmed healthy humans are still way more dangerous than swans. Unless it's a grizzly bear, a pack of wolves or some other large beast with a hunger for human flesh, always put your money on the puny human.
