I do wonder if she will have similar greetings for dwarves and qunari, and what she'll say to humans.

Her accent is Italian, actually.

Well Hispania was a roman province so I would say that they would speak some latin there, which is one of the many influences on Italian. I get why people would found Josephine accents "hispanic", there are some part of Portugal and probably Spain too that have similar ones, only knowing specific differences in dialects and accents can you come close to identifying it.

Probably something to do with Oswick or the Circle. Although I personally imagine something like so for the qunari:

Josie: Marass shorka. Anaam essam qun.

Qunquisitor: I... what?

Josie: I didn't think my qunlat was that bad.

Qunquisitor: No... I... I was just surprised.

Qunquisitor (thinking): (Note to self. Learn qunlat to impress human. Remember not to admit to others you don't know a word of it)

I know, I was just clarifying. Besides, at least to my ear spanish and italian accents sound different; I get that not everyone might catch the difference, but they do not sound the same. =]

Too me they are not the same either but I get why people would confuse them.

Which is why clarifying is important. :)

I guess I'm kinda passionate about this because an italian accent is not often found in games. ^^;

In which our advisors go on a wacky adventure of some sort. I imagine there’s a reason we leave these nerds back at Skyhold.

I don't know... that might not come across as too far removed from "Heil Hitler" to a Vashoth.

I have no doubt she will have special greetings for a Dwarf or Qunari Inquisitor.

As for the Human Inquisitor, I expect something formal such as "A pleasure to make you acquaintance."

wtf.

Why would you appreciate a greeting coming from the society that wants you dead and sees you as a living insult to its existence?

Why would you bring up sensitive political issues in a video game thread? Take that crap somewhere else.

I went through many iterations of it. I was even tempted at one point to offer multiple dialogue options.

But I wanted to go a shy protagonist, taken aback by Josie's obvious glee at having practiced some qunlat.

OH, I get what you're saying. At least as I intended it, the Qunquisitor isn't actually appreciative of the comment - the PC doesn't speak qunlat in my scenario. It's simply bravado to impress someone the PC might have a crush one.

It did make me wonder how many options we might have to tell people that we are not qunari.

Qunlat is just the native language of the Qunari. Unless Josephine says something in Qunlat that has religious undertones, I don't see why a Vashoth..even one who is rabidly anti-Qun, should be offended by it.

I think a better question would be: who would listen?

I'm sure with our party members it can come up, especially with the IB.

I'm fairly sure "anaan esaam Qun" is that.

Does it really matter anyway, since Josephine is most likely not going to say that?

I'm fairly sure "anaan esaam Qun" is that.

Specifically, (freely translated) it means "Alone, we struggle. Victory comes through the Qun". It's as fundamental a statement as a statement can be to the Qunari. See:

For the translation of the specific phrases.
