Specifically, (freely translated) it means "Alone, we struggle. Victory comes through the Qun". It's as fundamental a statement as a statement can be to the Qunari. See:

http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Qunlat

For the translation of the specific phrases.

So that... actually more or less matches my analogy.

Well, I think it's best to avoid the IRL parallels.

Edit: There's no indication the Qunari hunt Vasoth.

The best part is how her face doesn't change at all while doing it.

But the PC is now being called Tal-Vashoth, judging by the promotional website.

The PC can still be Vashoth if they choose to

You're right. Well, interesting. That's a more restrictive role relative to the Qun that being just a Vasoth.

Did Bioware say this? I'm confused now. :/

They said the Qunari is technically Vashoth because they never were part of the Qun.

But they keep using Tal-Vashoth instead.

Which means someone who LEFT the Qun, not who was never part of it.

Basically look at it like this.

We are Vashoth.

The Qunari views us as Tal-Vashoth

The other races sees us as Qunari.

I wonder if Josephine's respectful line will actually be her being one of the few people to see you as not a Qunari but a Vashoth.

Tal-Vasoth is just a title to someone opposed to the Qun.

But we should take this elsewhere. This is a thread about Josie. :)

In that case I stand corrected. A Qunari character should have an opportunity to reply with some snark or anger, as it assumes he or she is a devout follower of the Qun.

Of course considering how tactless and undiplomatic such a statement would be, it probably wouldn't make much sense for Josephine to say it. As the Inquisition's resident diplomat one would hope she'd know the difference between Qunari and Vashoth and of the conflict between them, and the potential mindfields in dealing with either of them.

Perhaps this one might be better:

Atas shokra: Meaning unknown, used as a greeting by a Tal-Vashoth leader to Tallis

I wonder how they'll handle the Qunari mage in this case. Presumably Josie will have a line for the Magequisitor. Will the Qunquisitor take precedent? One would think so. It's an interesting thing to ponder.

I think the race would overpower the class for non-Human races. I don't expect her to greet a Dalish Mage Inquisitor different than a Dalish Rogue/Warrior Inquisitor for example.

There's no indication the Qunari hunt Vasoth.

Arvaarad in Act 1 mentions his role is to hunt the gray ones who leave the Qun.

That said, I don't think it's in the nature of the qunari, outcast or not, to take offence as easily as humans do. They're a rather stoic people.

And maybe she will just make a polite compliment regarding the inquisitor's horns - to break the ice... ;)  :P

Mm,I don't think that's a safe assumption since all the qunari we've met so far were born under the Qun. so "stoic" may be less of a racial feature and more of a result of their culture under the Qun.

anywho, this is all off topic..

regardless of what language Josephine greets the Qunquisitor I'm sure it'll still make us all swoon  ^_^

I'm sure whatever Josephine says to the Qunari will be simple, most likely, "Shanedan." It's respectful and pretty universal for any Qunari I would imagine. Regardless, I'm eager for the interaction because it's more of a testament to Josephine's considerate and diplomatic nature.

Not to mention it's pretty damn endearing to.

As far as I've seen a lot of people really appreciated and liked that part of the stream.

I can't wait to see what other conversation topics we can have while speaking with her. The obvious things are probably about Antiva and her line of work. Anyone else have any ideas? I know they said something about our origin story being revealed throughout the game, rather than front-loaded. Think some of it will be revealed in conversations with our advisors and companions?

To be honest, talking with companions is one of my favorite things to do in BioWare games. Befriending them further cements my investment in the story.

I think she'll use a neutral greeting in Qunlat without angering the PC. Expecially because We have no Control of the reaction.

But than again who know a lot about the quanri culture outside of their conquer lands and city? they seem rather reserved when it comes to it. My bet is that she could indeed offend the PC because in way our qunari could very well dislike the whole culture they come from and not even be fluent in the language, it is like assuming if you are the son of immigrants, you must know everything about your parents country or even speak their language.

All this talk of culturally appropriate greetings makes me wonder if the human gets anything particular. I would guess it's just 'hello'.

Future consumer: So, humans get an extra ability point?

Seller: Yes.

FC: Why would anyone not play human then?

Seller: Josephine has a special greeting for the other races.

FC: Who?

Seller: Josephine: e48af23313389b7dbb750ac9d1e6f701.jpg

That would assume the PC hates the Qun, Which he might not.
Also, Josephine is from Antiva. In the North They might have more contacts and info with qunari/Vashots.
