Out of curiosity, is it out of respect for a potential relationship that could be that you feel uncomfortable romancing characters who could have non-PC romances, or do you have to actively ship them? I definitely feel like the idea of breaking up an OTP would be a bummer, but do you value others' relationships above your own? Especially in a digital space, I don't think it's "unfair" for you to pursue a relationship with one half of one of those side-relationships, especially because you'd be metagaming to do so, thus not really unlocking the character's romance path for the PC in the first place? IDK.
It is out of respect for the potential relationship, yes. To use the Garrus/Tali example, they make a cute couple. So now whenever I try to romance either of them, it feels like I'm breaking them up even though they aren't together yet leading to me being unable to do it, or at least with merely a fraction of the joy the romance arcs gave me before.
So if say Josephine/Leliana had the same thing happen, I would feel like the Warden and Inquisitor are breaking that up so wouldn't be able to enjoy the romances nearly as much if at all.
It gets to the point where I find it more enjoyable to see the characters get together than one of them get together with my character, so I let that happen instead even if it is at the cost of my favorite romance arc/arcs.
Alright, that is fair enough (especially since you could opt out of sex in the first Mass Effect), I am sorry about that.
Anyway, we have gotten way off topic in this thread. How about that Josephine?
At least DAI offers the ability to not have sex scenes yet continue the romance for some LIs.
Agreed. Here's some fanart to get us back on track.

How not to flirt - lessons my Inquisitor-to-be will never quite master.
(And Josephine’s ire is less at the flirtation itself, but at how horrible and unoriginal it happens to be.)
