Calling it now: The Inquisitor will walk in on Josie and Leliana having an unsubtitled conversation in Orlesian (read: French) and the fans will swarm upon translating. It which will take a surprising amount of time as arguments break out over varying outrageous poor translations purely by ear by non-fluent speakers. The thread will be 50 pages easy. Eventually devs/Allegra will, after playing coy for a month, confirm a correct translation we'll find out it was only some innocuous conversation, probably about cheese.

Not going to happen. There is a native French speaker in the thread who happens to be a professional translator. ME!

Sure, but this is the Internet and everything has to be a challenge. Are you prepared to defend yourself against incorrect translators who are frustratingly adamant about how correct they are and reject your credentials?

I won't bother with that. I'll just post my stuff and let them argue while I go enjoy the dialogue again. Et toc!

If they do, I'll trust Basement Cat's translation.
Though with how active Allegra is here, chances are if such a thing happened we'd need only ask her. Who would know better than the person who said the lines. ![]()

*snip*
Leliana: Inquisitor, if you truly wish to let Josephine know you are interested, I recommend flowers.
Inquisitor: Josephine and I-
Leliana: I know it's none of my business, but I've known her longer than you have. Trust me, she's Antivan. They're very traditional when it comes to this kind of thing. Josie is a classical woman. What you might consider boring, she'll consider sweet and endearing.
Inquisitor: I...thank you, Leliana. I'll consider it.
Leliana: You're welcome. Also, tell her that you like her shoes.
I would love it if something like this would happen.

She may be much colder and harsher but she's still the lady who said she wanted to catch my eyelashes.

Leliana does tease Alistair about liking a Female Warden, if in a relationship. I could totally see her doing that with an Inquisitor/Josie pair. Would probably be one of my favorite conversations when that happens ![]()
Having said that an unpaired Leliana and Josie Pair would be awesome. And a Leli who romanced the Warden that leaves the door open for Cosie (best ship name ever) could also be pretty adorable ![]()

Chapeau!
Merci, mon lapin. ![]()
Also, to rescue Josie from the second page: banter!
Inquisitor: So, care to join me for dinner?
Josephine: *playing innocent* We are always together for dinner, Inquisitor. Along with the commander, Seeker Pentaghast, ...
Inquisitor: *blush* You know what I mean.
Josephine: *still playing innocent* I'm afraid your meaning eludes me. You will have to clarify.
Inquisitor: I meant just you and me. Alone. In a quiet room.
Josephine: *blush, pleased smile* I would be delighted.
Inquisitor: Then why not accept from the start?
Josephine: I wanted to see you blush first. *teasing smile*

AKA Scribbles AKA Ruffles?

That'd be better, yeah. Still, she is ruffles now.

There was a debate about that. I think that Sasha/Kallen eventually came down on the side of keeping the name, because it's part of the thread's identity. I, for one, still consider myself to be a Scribbler.

Well, in-universe (Damn you, Varric!). I think Scribbles will still be her nickname for the community.

I think Scribbles was fun for a time when we didn't know the nickname, but now that we do I'm fine with Ruffles.

How about Rufflestiltskins? ![]()
Is it just me, or is anyone else noticing a similarity between Allegra and Indira Varma? I keep mixing their roles mentally, and am puzzled as to what else it could be.
It's the noses and the general attractiveness. Allegra is Italian-American, Indira is Indian-British.

Only thing I know about "Ruffles" is that they have "Ridges for extra flavor and crispness".
