Well, I heard that the Dalish doesn't have any options of disavowing the Elven Pantheon. The flexibility comes in as "Are you a zealot?" or "Are you more tolerant?"

There are certain elements that come with the racial backgrounds. The qunari is a Vashoth mercenary, the dwarf is a carta member, the human is a noble, and the elf is Dalish. Faith in the Creators is part of the package of their nomadic lifestyle. I understand you're not too keen on the elven background for the Inquisitor, but there will likely be some room for you to decide certain elements of the character's history and personality if you end up playing as a Dalish elf, as there was with the Vashoth, with the player having choices in deciding elements of his mercenary history.
