I got Skyhold about 15/16 hours in. I'm at about 30 hours now, but I also took the 18th off work. :P

It'll probably take me a month to finish the game. My time off is done >.>

So how do you romance her?

Yeah in the beginning you get a bit limited flirts compared to others, like 2 I think? Once you get to Skyhold that changes :P

Just keep talking to her! I didn't get more than a couple flirt options (none in her first convo) until after getting Skyhold.

So, to those who've gotten far enough in the game, how much personal quests does Josie have exactly? I heard Cullen has a gift, personal quest and a quest about something related to lyrium. Do all advisors have an equal amount of quests?

She has three. At least; that's what it says in my guide book anyway.

And Leliana? I heard non-LI characters don't have gift quests which would mean Leliana only has two?

Thanks and I'll assume Blackwall's the same then.

Hi everyone. I’m Josephine’s writer. As a rule I don’t post here, but I thought I’d make an exception to talk about my intentions with Josephine’s romance, mostly because people seem curious about it.

In the previous romance I wrote (Liara in ME3) there was a more explicit sex scene near the end of the character’s arc. I wanted to try something different for DA:I – have the intimate moment be earlier, be implied rather than seen, and leave the level of intimacy ambiguous so players could fill in what they wanted. The scene where the Inquisitor kisses Josephine for the first time and the screen fades to black is, to my mind, the first place they may be physically together… or it may just end in a kiss. That part I wanted to be interpreted more by players, not myself.

Anyhow, I know devs posting in threads can derail topics something fierce, so this will probably be my only post. I do want to thank you guys for the thread and for the kind words I’ve seen. Hope you’re enjoying the game!

I'd like to step in here and address the concerns from my perspective as well. Sylvia, Allegra, and I were all pretty much in lock-step when creating Josephine and specifically her romance. What I think might provide some perspective is to really consider all that you experienced with Josephine as a character, how cute and innocent she seems, how Disney-esque her courtship unfolds, and ask yourself; do I really want to see the scene where they both get naked? I saw it mentioned before that it would have been good if we at least provided a choice to either see it or not. I just can't imagine a situation where that would have been what was best for Josephine.

I'm so happy that Josephine's romance was not a "by-the-numbers" romance. Think of the fantasy that Josephine's romance arc allowed you to experience; a gentleman's duel for love, a unique scenario the like of which we have never seen at BioWare and possibly never will see again.

Would love to see more of that in the future tbh :P

*Cough* Or gentlewoman's.

I can definitely get behind that! Having a romance that leaves those things as unseen and offscreen/fade to black to give a different tone to that arc is pretty great actually.

Josephine's romance has felt the most real of any Bioware game for me.

Right! Clumsy me...

One thing you all might find interesting is that the "Pick up, twirl around, and kiss" animation was actually a piece we captured back on Mass Effect 1 but never used and eventually forgotten. I happened to stumble across it in our animation archive and thought "This is IT". Felt good to know we finally were able to justify that work ;).

No idea. Probably whoever your love interest was.

I honestly hope the bolded part isn't true, since BioWare romances really need more variety. Not when it comes to love interests, since that's been pretty diverse in Dragon Age, but when it comes to types of courtship.

It eventually really gets old when every romance follows the same flirt-sex-relationship path, which makes Josie's romance arc all the more fun and precious. Particularly because it suits her character so much.

I've not been in here for a long while now.  DAI has almost finished downloading, though, so... maybe I can get me some spoilers of my own at long last.
