I like to imagine she is a non-combatant/mundane. I also like to imagine that Leliana once tried to give her a dagger to wear just in case, but scribbles just left it on her desk as a fancy letter opener. alternately, she uses it to clean under her fingernails.

I can see her carrying like a Utility Knife on her person. Maybe in a scene she actually has to fight and uses that. A non-combatant armed with the deadliest weapon in the DA universe(Murder Knife).
