Speaking of Josephine being the victim of pranks: Leliana pranks her too according to some war table banter.

(paraphrased)

Josephine: Inquisitor. I must tell you that our spymaster is an incorrigible prankster!

Leliana: I have no idea what you mean.

Josephine: My... things in the courtyard?

Leliana: The ruffles were very festive.

Josephine: Leliana!

(I can only assume that Leliana decorated the courtyard with Josie's underclothes...)

Odd. That sounds so familiar yet I can't recall my reaction to it.

I love wartable banter. It seems what you get is random though, unfortunately. I had a quick first run and had banter that I never got on my near completionist playthrough.

It's nice to have a video with the advisor banter. Though, I swear in my first playthrough Cullen had brought up the fact that Leliana was with my female Amell. Doesn't seem like that was included in the video.

It is. It's near the beginning.

Oh! My mistake. When I click the link it goes straight to the 35 second mark. I didn't notice it the first time so the first few dialogues I missed. Thanks for pointing it out.

This channel has been great, especially due to the banter bug.

More on topic, gotta say I felt super romantic and dashing when I dueled Josephine's suitor. The first time I've gotten to feel that way with a female protagonist. I find that f/f relations in BioWare games can lack the romance that some of the m/f ones, with the obvious exception of Liara.

that duel... they really missed an opportunity for a warrior spec option in the dialogue wheel (champion could have made a show of it and get the crowd hyped up, templar could have just ended it swiftly and skillfully, and the reaver could have overpowered him), but instead it looked like the Inquisitor was an amateur at swordplay.. If Josephine hadn't stepped in there's a good chance we could have lost xD

Actually, there is a perk dialogue option you get to choose if you have it (forgot which) that has you cutting otronto's shoulder. In that version, Josie saves him. :P

I don't think it was so much that the Inquisitor was an amatuer at swordplay, as much as it was that Duke Otranto was an opponent that was every bit as skilled. He's no midling swordsman that you can steamroll.

I think Bioware got that right. Its refreshing to have opponents that every now and then, whether in story or gameplay, that the protagonist can't just beat into the dust on the way to thrashing other opponents.

If its the noble perk I must have missed that option. I had both a human noble Inquisitor and the perk, and don't recall the Inquisitor wounding Otranto.

It's not the noble perk, it's the secrets one. Here's a video I found... (ETA: Well I assumed it was the secrets one, because it's a black bird like a raven, but it might be something else? I don't know... After I posted, I remembered the secrets perk gives you magical knowledge and that was not the same icon for it...)

Interesting, thanks!

On that note I wonder what other dialogue options I missed without the secrets perk.

Well you can for example hire Servis as a smuggler with more benefits than if you take him on probation.

I know it shows up in one of the judgments. There really aren't that many places where those perks affect anything. I expected the nobility perk to be used in Halamshiral, but no. Not once. It was kind of disappointing to be honest.

If only a Mage had been allowed a sarcastic dialogue option after the duel;

"Just so we're clear, you know I could have set you on fire with my mind at any moment, right?"

So that's what the Underground/Criminal perk did.  I wasn't too sure about doing that so I didn't do it. I have it on my Dwarf and there are quite a few times it's been handy.

I assume that this duel is "To first blood" .  After all Josephine said that it was not usually fatal.  So basically, you would techincally win but now Otranto wants to kill you you.  So this time Josephine saves the place from turning into something chaotic.  Lovely.

Yeah, my first dwarf felt very accomplished when I wounded him. And I got to feel like I was in the Princess Bride for a few minutes. Win-win.

I agree. I love when Bioware has enemies like that where you just can't beat them in your current situation. Another example of that that I love is the fight against Saren on Virmire. I know the scene triggers when you lower his health down enough but the fact is that Saren beat Shepard on Virmire. He would have killed you if it wasn't for the bomb about to go off that causes him to retreat.

Another reason that Saren was a far better opponent for Shepard than than Kai-Leng, who we mopped the floor with in pretty much every encounter until the game forced us to lose because the story demanded it... whereas Saren was a great opponent because he was pretty much your equal in every way.

I loved that death-glare Shepard gave the statue of Saren in Kasumi's mission in ME2, not just because some people have Draco In Leather Pantsed Saren, but almost like Shepard was half-expecting that gold statue to come to life and attack them right there and then.

But yeah, it's nice to see an opponent of equal skill in a Bioware game, it's a nice change up from some of the enemies who despite being bosses (or even the Final Boss) still end up proving to be ridiculously easy to beat?
