I'd also add that the Inquisitor doesn't fence. Broadswords and axes handle differently from rapiers. It's like complaining a ballroom dancer is middling as a ballerina.
Hell, a Dalish Inquisitor has probably never even seen a rapier, let alone used one.

Fanmade discussion:
Inquisitor: Your decor has changed.
Josephine: What do you mean?
Inquisitor: The bust on the mantle… is that a pen sticking out of it??
Josephine: Ah, yes. It is.
Inquisitor: And it’s sticking out of the eyeball! Might I ask why?
Josephine: *sigh* Well, Leliana decided to pay me a visit and took it upon herself to lecture me on the ways of love and relationships.
Inquisitor: "Ways of?" Did she get specific about methods or something? Is that bard code?
Josephine: What? Oh, no. Nothing like that! It was really just some ridiculous warning about the risks of being over my head, as she put it, and getting hurt.
Inquisitor: I’m sure she’s just concerned about your happiness. I would hope she knows that it’s a concern of mine as well.
Josephine: That’s sweet. And yes, she means well, but her methods of conveying it leave much to be desired.
Inquisitor: That doesn’t explain the pen though.
Josephine: Oh, yes. Well. Our discussion got rather heated, and she made some offhand remark about you breaking my heart and how she kept her blades sharp.
Inquisitor: …what?
Josephine: So I told her now to worry, that I was perfectly capable of taking care of myself. I had to remind her to not be fooled by the ruffles and finery… and really, she should know better…
Inquisitor: …okay.
Josephine: To illustrate my point, I took my pen and threw it at the mantle. Left-handed too. Without looking up.
Inquisitor: …
Josephine: It was a decent shot, if I do say so myself.
Inquisitor: …well… we’ll talk more later.

I know it shows up in one of the judgments. There really aren't that many places where those perks affect anything. I expected the nobility perk to be used in Halamshiral, but no. Not once. It was kind of disappointing to be honest.
I remember there being a couple of noble dialogue options in Winter Palace actually, on my last playthrough.

Dang. Time for another run then. I missed that last time.

I'd also add that the Inquisitor doesn't fence. Broadswords and axes handle differently from rapiers. It's like complaining a ballroom dancer is middling as a ballerina.
When you create a warrior, you can choose to either know how to use swords, maces, axes, and shields or two handed axes, mauls, and greatswords.
But if you feel like switching from "sword" and board to two handed (or vice versa) at some point later in the game, you totally can with no real cost involved.
The description for the warrior class is exactly the same no matter which card you choose... Basically says that they can use all the weapons I just listed.
Broadswords and axes handle completely different from each other too. If you try to wield an axe like you would a sword, you're probably going to end up short a limb or two, to be honest. So it's pretty much invalid to say "rapiers handle differently to broadswords" blah blah as a reason for not being able to fence.
It's not unreasonable for a human noble to have learned at least the basics of rapiers, especially if duelling with them is as common as it seems to be in Thedas. I wouldn't rule it out for dwarf, elf, or qunari warriors either. Other classes... eh, maybe rogues, definitely not mages.

this makes me think that, if the couple is intimate, that Josie is the one in charge, lol.

So whats the best way for me to trigger "An Unexpected Engagement"? Should I clear a new zone out, then return to Josie in the hope it triggers?

After the night balcony kiss scene. Do a story mission, or maybe try to explore and do random side and companion missions (i'm not sure about that though, but I'd recommend it if you finished Here Lies The Abyss and The Winter Palace) then go to Josie's office, it'll trigger automatically, if it doesn't then talk to her.

So anyone else think it would be funny to see Josies family react to the PC if they got to meet them,
Like bringing a Qunari mage, Dwarf Rogue or ex-rebel mage home.
Just imagine the drama!

Well, in my headcanon she sure is. ![]()
I really can't see it being any other way at this point, tbh.

Luckily, at least Yvette doesn't seem to mind who or what the Inquisitor is. So there's that. But the others? I wish there was a letter from Josephine's family that the Inquisitor could read before or after the duel. It would have been interesting to see their reactions to the different Inquisitor races/backgrounds.

I think you need to finish Adamant before that. Definitely do Wicked Eyes after, as there is romance content in there.

I apologize if this has already been answered, but I was wondering (and I'm completely new to the Dragon Age series and went on an obsessive shopping spree) if there are going to be future novels written and if Josephine will be written into them? (This is also assuming the novels are still being produced).
She has such a beautifully developed character. I love everything about her and how adorable she can be. She is one of the few characters I have encountered in any game, that has actually made me laugh out loud.
Thank you in advance if anyone does happen to reply ![]()

No need to apologize, and welcome to the world of Dragon Age. ![]()
I have no doubt there will be future Dragon Age novels, but I do not know if Josephine will be a character in them.

I tried asking Sylvia about what Josephines greatest fear would be (in reference to the fade mission) but got no reply so I say lets guess! Honestly I have no idea what it would be, perhaps losing her family?

Josephine is such a sweetheart! I mean that was apparent the first time I met her, but I just started the romance and oh my God the kiss was sooo cute. Just what I needed after Solas. Looking forward to whatever comes next.
Her relationship to Leliana is great btw, overprotective friends can make things really awkward, can't they?
Also, I love how you can see her teeth (is there a word for this?) and I do dig the voice acting, that accent is just so preciousssss.
I'll stop gushing.

.__. awkward confession.
Developed a real crush on Josephine despite her being an NPC.
Yup...I'll just quietly shame myself in a corner. No no, I don't need to get out more. I think she was written really well.

It's okay, it's totally silly but completely understandable. We won't judge

Gawd I hate admitting this but Josephine made DAI worthwhile for me. I just loved her to pieces and I went into the game KNOWING I would romance Sera but ahhhhh.... that sweet Josie stole my heart.

Screwing up, I think. As a diplomat, an ambassador, caretaker of the family... it seems to be what keeps her going, that fear, for it is something she absolutely does not want to see realized.

I agree. Her worst memory is what happened that one time when she accidentally killed a former friend when defending herself from him. Despite her being blameless, she sees it as her screwing up and it is the motivation for her becoming one who always seeks peaceful solutions.

Went into first playthrough romancing Cass, then romanced Josie to see how it went and been doing it on all subsequent playthroughs ever since.
