Ahh. I've always been more interested in Josephine's ambassadorial side than her business side, truth be told.
Given the setting, the two combine fairly well. Antiva is based on an Italy divided into principalities and rules by merchant princes. You have to be both a merchant and a politician. Very different skill sets, but she somehow manages to pull off both. Notice how she's the one managing the Inquisition's finances as well as her family's. Pretty impressive.
