No, you can still romance Josephine if you take Leli's solution. I just prefer Josie's solution.

I preferred Leliana's solution. Quick, efficient, and resource wise, inexpesive.

I am the sort who prefers to fight fire with fire as opposed to fire with rainbows.

So when an advisor is being threatened by an organization of assassins, you send your own assassins and saboteurs after them. In real life, this is called counter-intelligence.

There are only 2 reasons one can have for taking Josie's solution.

1) You believe in a pacifist philosophy of some kind. Which is odd because as Dorian puts it eloquently "I am surprised you did not kill someone while walking over here." As Inquisitor, you have to do a lot of killing.

2) You want to bang Minister Bellise. That is perfectly fine too, especially if you imagine someone like Helen Mirren or Diane Lane under that mask. Though if you do bang her, you get a dialogue which indicates a possibility of the Inquisitor contracting STDs. Which is problematic in this game since healers and healing magic are not abound.

Leliana's way to deal with it has a little tiny problem, you are putting the life of Leliana's people in danger. Any Inquisitor should have in mind that no matter how many many soldiers or spies are in the Inquisition, there isn't an infinite supply of them. I don't remember Leliana's report of the mission but, didn't she have any casualties?

Josie's way is slower, true, and there's a risk there too because the assassins could kill Josie, but that's a risk she is willing to take. You may think Josephine's life is a much more valuable resource than some of your spies, but it's her life and she's willing to endanger it for the sake of a peaceful solution. For me is another point where I role play my character, some of my characters will take one solution, some of them will take the other. And the Carpe Diem moment is not compulsory to solve the quest, it's even more role playing and it's a great light moment.

As for the STDs, didn't they  use magical Orlesians cushions that prevent STDs? :D

@Erikdlan

Josephine's way also endangers others. The assassin has to infiltrate Skyhold to do the job and there is no knowing what kind of collateral damage they can cause. Anyone assigned to guard Josephine is at risk, the assassin could murder one of the staff to take their place, if they use poison they could kill a bunch of other people too. The House of Repose would justify any collateral damage as 'part of the job'.

Both methods carry high risks. So you have to wonder about your public image then.

Josephine's way: Pros: it shows that the Inquisition is willing to negotiate and can be subtle. Cons: The Du Paraquette family get elevated back to nobility because their ancestors hired assassins to kill a business rival. That's rewarding bad behavior and a sufficiently cunning foe could use the Inquisition to elevate themselves.

Leliana's way: Pros: It shows that the Inquisition has skilled agents and can deal with direct threats. Cons: The House of Repose warned Josephine of the contract. Sending people to steal it, likely kill some of their agents and steal other contracts too (it says so in the report) makes the Inquisition appear barbaric and people are less likely to try diplomacy if that is the response they get.

Pick your poison.

Meh, Anders could heal Isabela's (or Seneschal Bran's) STD, so I'm not too bothered.

I feel bad that I finished my Dorian doll before my Josephine doll. All I need is her body. I going to end up framing it before I can finish. :crying:

I need to see your Dorian doll!!!! Did you show it somewhere?

So I read somewhere that April's gonna be Josie Appreciation Month on tumblr. This will be grand!

And this artist has such a lovely art style:

I tend to feel like this is Josephine's business, so her wishes should be respected.

True, but she does get the Inquisitor involved so... There are many ways to justify either choice. It's up to role playing mostly.

Still, it shows how common assassination attemps are that she treats the whole thing like a minor annoyance. Her reaction to her unexpected engagement is worse.

@Basement Cat Fair enough, but I think Leli's path for that quest is more risky in terms of potential casualties. Anyway role playing reasons ftw!
Of course Josie is more worried about the betrothal. That's a personal and familiar matter. An assassination attempt is part of the Game. Just business.

I've been converted from Solas to Josephine. She's just such a lovable person, and Solas is, upon examination, kind of a dick. It feels like I dropped the Illusive Man in favor of Kelly Chambers and I have no regrets.

But the priiiize! In all seriousness, the 'reward' for Leliana's plan has more risk but also more reward: you save Josie's life and find information about other targets/employers of the House of Repose.

With Josephine's path we save her life and that's it. The Du Paraquettes are even by cancelling the contract, so they don't owe the Inquisition any favors. In fact Josephine has to call in a bunch of favors to get it done, so the administrative cost is high, which could result in casualties later down the line because of a favor that couldn't be called in.

Basically: you can't predict the future, so take the time to weigh your options carefully and stick to them. Nothing brings trouble faster than an indecisive leader.

They're adorable. I loved Josie's "WAT??" response to asking if they were ever lovers. Seriously, my poor IQ really puts her foot in it asking people about their relationships. All I was short was the option to ask Morrigan if she ever banged my female Warden.

As for the quest, Quizzy deferred to Leliana's expertise on assassins and Orlesian grudge-holding nonsense and went her route. Josie's would take too long and was too risky. The friendship between Leliana and Josie made romancing her all the more worthwhile. Overprotective Leliana is sexy-scary.

I'm glad I went with Josie instead of Sera (caaaaalm, Sera peeps, you know I ain't a hater  B)). Her romance was so ridiculously sappy and Disney, and it was really cool being able to play that kind of stereotypical fairytale romance as a female PC.

Antivan jokes!

What's the worst part of marriage? The fact that the assassin your spouse sends after you was probably paid with your money.

What's the difference between an assassin and a husband? The assassin doesn't chase other women.

Speaking of Antivans, why is there a banter between Dorian and Vivienne that goes something like this :-

  • Dorian: Vivienne, we can continue this dance forever, if you wish.
  • Vivienne: Presuming both of us are capable.
  • Dorian: I mock Orlesian frippery and nonsense, you mock Tevinter decadence and tyranny.
  • Dorian: There is, however, something far more important we should remember.
  • Vivienne: Just what might that be?
  • Dorian: At least we're not Antivan.
  • Vivienne: Quite right. Thank the Maker.

Why are Antivans looked on as jokes by Tevinters and Orlesians ?

It might have something to do with military might. Tevinter has been holding it's own against the Qunari for a while now and Orlais is the most powerful nation in Thedas. Antiva has no army or navy to speak of and they have been conquered repeatedly. Their only claim to fame is the Crows, really.

As a military power, Antiva is kind of a joke.

Their monarchy is also a comedy of errors.

In what way is Solas a dick?

I've made a bit more peace with Josephine's romance and am certainly running with it with my elf, but am fairly scared that it'll never be followed up on in DLC or anything.

If Thedas is like Europe, you could probably switch in any nation in any of the slots and it'd work with a few tweaks.  But Antiva is perhaps the nation that would be most well known in both countries - Orlesians certainly snark about Fereldan but it wouldn't really resonate with Tevinters.
