So is this an accurate glimpse into their relationship a few years from now then?
No the Inquisitors love for Josephine will always be showroom new even after their little footstool comes along.

So I'm starting my second playthrough of DA:I, and I want to establish my canon story this time. I romanced Cassandra last time and really enjoyed it, but I'm still very curious about Josephine's romance. As much as I love Cassandra as a character, I still like Josephine a lot, and frankly, she is far more attractive. I've intentionally avoided watching videos of her romance because I don't want to spoil too much of it, so I haven't seen the infamous dueling scene that seems to have upset a number of her fans, leading some to even headcanon it out of existence. But really, is it that bad? Is it that ridiculous?
Also, how much romance content does she have compared to the others? I know she doesn't have a sex scene, and although I do find that disappointing, it's not an absolute deal-breaker for me. It appears that she has two whole quests that are romance-exclusive, so that seems rather substantial.
It's a really cute scene. There are some who don't like it, but Bioware and most of the fanbase love it.
She has the same amount of content as the other love interests. Each romance was given exactly the same amount of resources. Plus if the Youtube videos are anything to go by, she actually has more references to it since the Josephine romance videos tend to be longer than the others, like Cassandra.

Having done Sera's romance, I'm pretty sure that that's incorrect. Sera's romance has a lot more.

Hence me saying the words 'tend to be longer'. It's longer than a few, but shorter than a couple.
How much content does she have compared to Cullen? They're both advisers, so I assume that they have about the same amount.

They have nearly identical amounts of content.

I thought the duel was one of the best scenes in the game.
Dont be sad, Josie

Must remain strong for Josie!
Quick hypothetical...
How would Josephine have reacted if the Inquisitor outright killed Otranto during the duel?
I'd imagine that the romantic fireplace scene wouldn't be a huge possibility...

Well probably? but than again, the Inquisitor is a killer no.
Still to bad there is no option with that, could had result in some nice RP possibilities, especially if you are from the Carta.

It would've been a PR catastrophe for the Inquisition, one that causes too much complexity for romance resources to handle.
As for what Josie would've done, she will *hate* you, not just end the romance. I'd almost say that she would leave, but she understands her responsibilities towards the Inquisition and wouldn't abandon them.
I just saw a video of the duel scene with a male Adaar (American voice) and now I HAVE to do that! That was too precious for words!
Male Adaar and Josephine are adorable together, I just finished my playthrough where I romanced those two and it's closely tied with my Solavellan as my favourite pairing in the game.
I especially love Jon Curry voicing Adaar. You have this former mercenary, a giant of a man with an intimidating appearance and extremely deep voice, it's not hard to imagine why so many people are quick to jump to conclusions about them? Only for Adaar to starting talking and reveal that he's actually extremely funny, polite and wicked cultured. It creates an amazing contrast and you really get a sense of why the people at Halamshiral had their minds blown upon meeting this guy, as well as why Josephine would fall for his charms?
It reminds me a lot of Sten, where he looked intimidating and rarely said anything, but when he opened his mouth, you really got how eloquent and smart this guy actually was, even if he pretends to be a mere warrior that "likes swords".

One reason I haven't romanced Josephine with a qunari is because Sera's so lusty that I can't help but reciprocate. Hence my romancing her as an elf.
And for some reason, I can't help but wonder if Lavellan ever RPs as a wicked elven bandit with one thing on her mind...

Xenon does mention Josephine in the Black Emporium. He sold one of her ancestors a candle-holder fashioned from a human hand in the Blessed Age. He wonders if she still has it.
I heard that line too.
I may or may not have looked around her office and areas that may be her room looking for it. ![]()

Do it. If you have inclining that you'd like a Josie romance, I think you'll enjoy it. Its probably the sweetest romance in the game (for some folks, that's not their cup of tea). Frankly all of the romances are a little ridiculous when you really think about them (Iron Bull, anyone). Personally, I'd take any of the romance stories in DA:I over any romance story from the previous two games, but that's a different discussion all together.
Anyway, I thought the dueling scene was fun, if a little silly, and appreciated the resolution to it. She has quite a bit of romance exclusive content. I haven't done a one for one against the other romances, but it seems pretty comparable. As for the sex thing, IMO leaving a little to the imagination isn't always a bad thing.
