Maybe we should ask Josies writer to give her view on the couples future.
Just no one ask Gaider cause I assume many an evil laugh and smile would follow being asked that.
I sent her a 4 part tweet explaining the worry a little bit and asked her if she could clarify and ease the minds of those worried.
Also, hello Scribblers. ![]()

Hello, Gamedam Meister. Glad you decided to join us and thank you for asking. ![]()

Sylvf @Sylvf1@GamedamMeister I don't want to say too much - I think I risk intruding on people's "head-canons" but no, I don't see it as doomed.Sylvf @Sylvf1@GamedamMeister As head of the house Josephine could choose any of her sibling's offspring as her successor, so succession is prob. covered.
Yay! So they do stay together regardless of the obstacles that exist in Thedosian society.
Pity
Relax.
The future may bring obstacles and developments that'll "spice things up".
But not every romance needs to be doomed or filled with drama. Not saying that those things are bad, but different romances have different dynamics and characteristics and trying to force every romance to fit the same mold (doomed or heavily dramatic) is in itself dis-interesting and predictable.
And plus, the writer did say that there is something ahead that could intrude with some head-canons. Wonder what it is?

Exactly. It's nice to have just a sweet romance.
I think she meant more her answering the question could intrude with head-canons.
Though I wouldn't be surprised if there was content that did in a DLC, particularly a post-campaign one.
Relax.
Well that is good news at least.
At least we hopefully avoid a scene like in Shrek 2 with Fiona's family.
Though it would be funny.

Josephine has a pretty cute line if you're romancing her when you ask about Antiva. She talks about taking you to the Antivan theatre and you can respond positively or negatively. I voiced my interest in going to the theatre, since my Inquisitor is quite the cultured fellow.
"Oh dear. Should I send ahead for tickets? They always sell out before mid-season ..."

Whaaaat!!! I never had that option, I think.
You learn something new everyday

Probably because the option to ask about Antiva comes up before the romance does, so if you choose it before then she answers it professionally.

Sounds like the sort of solution that Josephine would come up with.
Wouldn't surprise me that even if she has no neices and nephews at present, she's already mentally prepared some good schools to "suggest" that her siblings send them to, so they can get a good education and she can begin stealth mentoring them, to prepare one of them to take over from her?
That's the solution I've always suggested. I don't see why Josie can't appoint an heir from her siblings. Even with a male human noble Inquisitor (non-mage) I'm not sure marriage would be the right call for the Inquisition.
You mean have the Inquisitor pull a Celene or Elizabeth I, where you have the monarch purposely remain single so that various heads of state will all compete for their favour in the hopes of being the one to finally attain the eligble bachelor(ette), when in reality, they might already have (or be rumoured to have) a paramour or not wish to be tied down at all?

Not sure her sister would be the best person to rule, considering what we saw of her. does she have any other siblings?

2 brothers, yes.
I can picture Josephine's mother wearing this.
Well, personally yes, but I was thinking more than it seems convention that the Divine is notionally celibate. I'm thinking to keep up the guise of divinity for the Herald "no mortal lover" might need to be part of the historical record.
You're an inquisitor not the divine and also for people who played someone not religious/interested in the whole Herald thing why should they worry about religious imagery? It's also unlikely the Inquisition would remain forever so having a lover/spouse that you acknowledge would maybe be more up their alley.
Inquisitors who embrace being the Herald may take that path but I think there would have to be different options regardless of who the inquisitor ended up with because they can be played very reluctantly as well.

The "Herald of Andraste" might very well be a canticle in the Chant eventually. It doesn't matter if you're not religious - I only basically played purely atheist characters - as much as whether you want to preserve the Inquisition's power base (which for a lot of characters is the only thing justifying your ability to openly romance Josie without creating a bunch of issues for her family to start).
And, remember, even if you don't care for the Inquisition personally Josie does care quite a lot. She might not be as willing to take a step that undermines it as you think.
Even Andraste had a mortal husband and begat a couple daughters from that union, so I don't think the Herald of Andraste would be held to a higher standard than Andraste. Not to mention if Leliana is romanced and becomes the Divine, she changes the rule of Divines having to be celibate.
