Quiz could have made it to second base, maybe third.
For those who didn't romance Josephine, I'm assuming she didn't marry Brotranto, right (or her name//house would have changed)? Wonder why that is.

I think Thedas is more flexible with surnames, to match it's general lack of patriarchy. And because it's quite open to female succession, it needs to allow surnames to go down the female line if great houses aren't to change name regularly. Since Josephine is the heir to her house, I'd assume she'd keep the name. And perhaps even pass it on to her children, or at least the one expected to inherit. There's a certain degree of real world historical precedent for this sort of thing.
Or possibly she just hasn't got round to it. She's been busy, her marriage would presumably take quite a lot of organising and I doubt she'd see it as a great priority.

I think i took more issue at how in a lot of scenes going to the capital is treated like a nice little trip....and not weeks or months.
Like with Cole and visiting the inn.....
Unless we have access to like jetpacks or something it makes no sense.
Then again having jetpacks would also not make sense, ah well.
Personally I think that it was kinda dumb we did have to go over her head, but I found it more amusing to see a livid Antivan come out of the crowd.
Not even Cory made them do that O.O face.
It would not take weeks to go from Skyhold to Val Royeaux. It would very likely take days, especially once reaching the more secure and speedy highways and using carriage (we don't see it, but its likely they use something like that) instead of hoofing it on foot and setting up camps (DAO).
And this is a world that expects trips to take days. Celine going to her Winter Palace is probably a trip of days too (maybe even just one day), and it is fine.
When we go to Val Royeaux with Cole, the visit isn't ONLY for that. In the story, we get the glimpse of things, not the absolute 100% day-to-day events. There's always something going on but we don't get to see all of it.
Visiting the Inn in the Hinterlands? That's probably only a day or two trip at most.
And again, they expect it. I know that's different from present IRL society, but when you go to an inn to wait for someone, in Thedas, you're not just going to wait for hours, but you're prepared to have lodging for at least days, perhaps weeks depending on the case.
Going to Val Royeaux IS a nice little trip compared to what else is done. Take the road, get there within a few days (tops?), enjoy the day and do side stuff not to be mentioned because it isn't relevant to the scene.
Sure going to Val Royeaux isn't a short stroll, but it isn't anything close to a big deal for the Inquisitor unless there's very pressing matters (and there almost never is, with how DAI's plot is set up). You leave the mountains, cross the fringes of the Dales, and cross a bridge, on mostly well traveled roads. Going to Denerim would be a whole other matter as you'd be traveling farther, on less prepared roads, relatively more dangerous wilds, etc, but probably still predictable to get there within 1 (2 at most?) weeks on horse.
I admit much of this timing is a guess, but its based on perceptions built from DAO until now. Ferelden and Orlais are quite a place to travel across, but I highly doubt it would take even a month to cross from the eastmost of Ferelden to the westmost of Orlais - and we're talking more about going from the northern Frostback Mountains to Val Royeaux. Not a trip to take on a total lark (oh I just gotta pick up my groceries!), but with the Inquisition's setup, still reasonable to propose to Cole IMO.

EDIT: It took 2 weeks for Hawke to travel from Gwaren to Kirkwall, but this was only because Gwaren is on the south-east of Ferelden (not north/north-east/north-west), there were 'terrible storms', and I also doubt it was the fastest kind of boat. However, this timing was likely set up for the writing to have Hawkes reach the city during the middle of the time of the Warden's fight agains the Blight, aka refugees not just coming in, but packing the entry to Kirkwall, therefore Hawke needing to wait for a patron, etc etc.

This is the most likely reason, in my opinion. Pretty much the same reason it didn't surprise or annoy me there was no marriage option for her.
Romantic/relationship stuff just doesn't seem to occur to her. The Inquisitor has to take the lead from the very beginning. By the time that pre-opera scene happens in Tresspasser, you've got to wonder how much time they've dedicated to their relationship. Actually, she pretty much admits that she feels she neglects her SO.
After that conversation with Cassandra (and all the other hints from Leliana), I figured it was also better to disband for my quiz to have any chance of a personal life.
Still, Josephine's family would probably handle most of the planning for an arranged marriage while she put it off as long as possible. I imagine, with the way she's been working and the fact that it seemed to take 2 years for her to ask the Inquisitor on a date, Otranto would eventually get fed up and call off the engagement.

There's a dialogue in the Arbor Wilds that strongly implies Josie and Inky are sleeping together, at least post-duel. So that's my headcanon.
I think I recall Allegra saying on twitter that she believes a romanced Josie now sleeps in the Inquisitor's bed? Or at least, that's her own headcanon for the state of the relationship when she romanced herself.

Considering she said it in a joking manner, it doesn't really mean anything other than her headcanon. Like when they joked she sleeps in her chair or doesn't need sleep.

Speak for yourself. I wanted to hold hands so bad, it's all I could think of in the arbor wilds.

There should be a Josephine romance scene where you take her on a date in Val Royeaux and there is a montage of all the different things you do together, and in every clip Leliana is somewhere in the background in a different bad disguise

I will confess, there was pertinent information about the duel in an investigation option that I had hitherto missed. Specifically, that breaking off Otranto's engagement could take much longer than I initially thought, perhaps up to years, and potentially cost Josephine a great deal. So, I concede that the duel makes rather more sense than I had initially believed.

Anyone that isn't Sera or Cullen gets the short end when it comes to romance. At least, that's the common reaction I've seen outside of the forums. I only lurk here and in Cass and Leli's threads so can't give a definitive opinion about the forum reaction as a whole.
I was quite satisfied with the romance closure for Cassandra and Leliana (didn't expect my Warden romance to get even a codex mention, you got me there Bioware!). Though a little disappointed with the lack of Cassandra marriage.
I admit Josie should have gotten more content, just a little bit more, Bioware. Like being able to discuss marriage with Josie. Heck, that's what her whole duel scene was about. Or even seeing Josie in a wedding dress in the epilogue.

I must be the only one who was satisfied with what I got, and I'm not that easy to please.
There are probably better romance content, like maybe Cullen and Sera, but compared to Solas, and Iron Bull for example, even Cassandra ( especially as the divine ), I think we were fine with Josie. Yes, we didn't see a marriage happening in our game, but it was mentioned. It was mentioned guys and it led us to believe it would happen one day. I don't know if you realize. I remember how David Gaider ( and maybe Allan but I'm not sure ) said again and again that Bioware wasn't at all interested into that kind of stuff called marriage. This is why I was really surprised when it appeared without warning. The reaction of Cassandra was so cute and so awesome by the way. And it was all about Josephine and our character.
It got me excited personally. Even, if finally it didn't happen in Trepasser, I can finally headcanon the whole thing ( happening months or years after the dlc ) without feeling I'm being out of line. My inquisitor will definitely marry Josephine, but just fade to black compared to the game, I don't necessarily need cutscenes, and it will be much better than a marriage quickly done, almost rushed and without their families around. And I bet anything that the inquisitor will be automatically married to Josephine or considered as such in DA4. The same for Cassandra if she is the lady seeker. ![]()

And another one with a close up in Trepasser, where I think she is really beautiful.

yup. Her romance content is basically the same as non-romance content, with maybe a 'Love' thrown in there. No talk of a marriage/the option to propose, no unique cutscene specific to her romance, etc.
