Spiders might be cute for some but they are, indeed, nightmares for people with arachnophobia! An example is the existence of those two housed-size Monstrous Spiders, one in the Deep Roads and one in Sundermount. I couldn't stand against that horror even in my second playthrough. So, I modded the game with Mabari replacement. I heard that Dragon Age: Inquisition will have big *** spiders hiding inside crates in caves.
Could devs please add an option which can disable spiders from the game? Just like the "Persisitant Gore" option from the last two games.

Exposure therapy is good for phobias. Take your medicine.

Duke's Dear Freja. Medicine to take three times a week. Should cure any arachnophobia.

Those who suffer from any kind of phobia need to get professional help to get themselves fixed and should not demand sympathies nor accommodations because of their perfectly treat- and curable condition.
I suffered from vertigo and cured myself through exposure. Now I'm an avid mountain climber. I never demanded from anyone to change their stuff because of my problem because that would have been pretty damn selfish. I kind of hate that attitude that the world and everyone in it has to change to accommodate your problems rather than changing yourself. Sadly there are many people thinking that way.

I often hear people say "why are you scared of spiders? They can't hurt you". Aside from the fact that some spiders can bite you, the problem is that arachnophobes aren't scared because they think the spider the will hurt them - in some cases they don't even know why they're scared, just that they are and it hinders their everyday lives.
I can handle small to medium spiders in real life. Anything bigger and I run away. In video games I handle them better, but even then I occasionally get a bad camera angle and can't help but recoil. Not to mention their horrible habit of dropping down right on top of you.
The thing is though, there are lots of phobias. Some people are scared of bridges - should we stop putting bridges in our games? Some people are scared of open spaces - should we stop putting exterior cells in our games? Some people are scared of males - should we stop putting men in our games?
At the end of the day it is something people with phobias just have to deal with on their own. My personal issue with spiders is that they (along with giant rats and wolves) are a bit clichéd, but it looks like DAI will have a lot more enemy variety so I'm satisfied with that.
If anything, I would prefer Bioware remove Mabari as enemies - I hate killing them.

With you on that. Their whimpers make me feel like a terrible person.
Pixel spider's ain't scary, is not like they can escape the game & crawl in your mouth while your sleeping or anything.
And then lay eggs in your brain so that the babies will have plenty of flesh to eat when they hatch.

Pixels, yes but perfect pixels. Why is every spider in videogames perfect enough to scare arachnophobes. ![]()

That's a good idea. Everyone else is enjoying inexplicably looting silver out of their gooey corpses; you should too.

You're asking for a spider toggle?
Outrageous!
Just kidding, yeah spiders in games can even freak me out and I work with bugs for a living. For those with a serious phobia, not a pleasant experience I can imagine. I've had arachnophobe friends say seeing them on screen is often more frightening because all the things that make them scary are magnified X10. And I guess thats the point of them being there for starters, so I'm not sure how successful your request will be.

You have many options to disable spiders, for example, the paralyze spell.

Hey I detest spiders in all the forms and enjoy carrying out an aggressive campaign of death on them, dont mean I try getting them out of the game.
Still though fear is a great way to motivate players.
Like in Skyrim:
"OH JUMP DOWN IN FRONT OF ME AND MAKE NOISES EH? TASTE WARHAMMER YOU EIGHT LEGGED FREAK!"

Maybe... do hydrophobic materials have an irrational fear of water?

I never heard the term aquaphobic being used to describe a material though.
