If not for the damn mirrors, that clan wouldn't have tried to summon Imshael...

If not for "Orlais/tevinter/andraste/stupid"

Nah, Hinata was responding to my hypothetical burning down all the alienages to draw out our dear friend Bri for her little password.

Well I hope Bioware does provide meaningful choices so that if you want to slaughter them you can. I want to play an elf and win a revolution for the elves because that would be fun for me. Just maybe we could have some fun endings with different approaches. I know I don't want to get stuck killing crazy people like DA2.

Good thing, because you'd only be rending the Veil further.

I don't see how it follows that the mirrors are inherently bad or should be destroyed. They seem like useful tools to me, what they will be used for and what people will do to access them is another matter.

Dang guys, I'm gone an hour and it turns out the thread jumped five pages and Dean and Ieldra have been avatarly cross dressing.

This place is a madhouse lol.

I thought about changing my avatar to Ruka from Steins Gate. Would have been worth a laugh, but there wasn't an image I liked.

Relax, I keep the blood magic/torture to Briala. I'm not gonna hurt the CE cause they got dragged into this damn mess.

the thing is that they are almost exclusively elf tools. So good if you want the elves having an edge. But bad if you're concerned about them being (possibly) linked to uber-demons or the taint, or some sort of entity trapped in the eluvian realm, or leading to fade tears, or the black city......man, they come with a fu*kTonne of potential downsides.

I never claimed he was, only that he had potential.

Right, and I'm asking why. I don't think being more willing to sack the city is enough because Celene will do it as well. Sacking the city isn't a difference of potential when they both would do it.

Heck, Gaspard would have done it without a second thought.

Most likely, but the thing is, it would've happened to anyone on the throne. Sacking the city was a foregone conclusion the moment the elves didn't disperse and lay down their arms etc.

But Gaspard doesn't have elven assassins. Perhaps he should consider getting some.

Is that the mirrors doing or were they just on the other side? The mirrors seem to be the means of short travel. We can find Gaxking in Denerim and Drakspawn in tunnels. I say travel with caution and get ready for a fight when using the mirrors. Unless you believe the mirrors are causing the tears. if that is the case then yes they have to go.

Imshael was summoned by Clan Virnehn because of it's knowledge about the Eluvians, then it was released by the chevalier Michel, while the tainted Eluvians (in theory) could be cleansed. The mirrors are an asset that can be utilized for good measure, and I don't think I would be inclined to destroy them.

Their reasons change that logic for me.

It's just my opinion, it really truly doesn't matter why I think that, and you won't be able to change it like I obviously won't be able to change yours.

Oh, he would have had a second thought: it just wouldn't have been a second thought of 'it's wrong to do it to elves.' I have no doubt he'd sack a rebellious human city as well: Celene can claim she'd do the same (and she probably would), but the callousness that would allow Gaspard to crush an elven uprising would be the same to let him do the same to a human one without Celene's moment of racial hypocrisy-of-caring.

Gaspard is more likely to sack a rebellion because he cares less about the costs, not because he's cruel (which requires care of a different sort).

Slaughtering innocent people is not a good idea if you don't want more tears:

DAI Veil Tear
The Veil sundered in Dragon Age: Inquisition
It is theorized that the Veil tends to be weaker in places that feature, or have experienced, extensive death or use of magic.[1] What is known for sure is the use of blood magic can allow the Veil to be torn so that demons may physically pass through it into the physical world.[2] Areas that can be seen or felt where the Veil is thin are usually referred to as "tears" in the Veil, in keeping with the fabric metaphor. In fact, when the Veil itself tears it makes a sound like ripping cloth.[3]

I'm wondering how in the world they even managed to summon a demon of that caliber without using blood magic? Maybe I'm reading too much into this...but what if he wanted to be summoned by them?

Good point and makes sense to keep them.

Well, we know that it might be that a rift opens in the Exalted Plains because of the deaths caused by the fighting on all the sides.

Ugh, unpleasant thought. Demons with agendas are the worst.

They are literal gateways to Hell.

Or at least its incarnation in Dragon age if the fact that a forbidden one coughed up the activation ruby is any indicator.

It makes me start busting out some conspiracy theories. All though, for sure, mysterious events have been occuring across Thedas in both the Dragon Age as well as past centuries. Events manipulated by what I believe is Flemeth and some other unknown entity.

Can he truly be racist? I mean, he's half elf so can one be racist to their own race?

Yes he can. He has some self hate. To be a racist he would have to believe that humans are superior to elves. That is not saying he can't change.

Agreed. And now that bastard Corypheus has joined the mix, along with Morrigan and maybe the Architect. Makes me wonder whose side Flemeth is on, besides her own.
