Not really. I am prone to framing my arguments about Ferelden and my more nationalist/locally interested Wardens in terms of Ferelden being important, but I don't really carry that forward to other characters. It's not my intent at this time, but I'll probably eventually roleplay a nationalist Orlesian in contrast to the nationalist Ferelden.

Unlike some people, for whom every player character/avatar reflects the same general views and positions, I'm quite comfortable for my player characters to have differing and even contradictory views.

I was going to say no, but on second thought I do have a bit of fondness for Ferelden. Not enough to sway my non-Ferelden Inquisitor, but enough to make any anti-Ferelden decisions sting for me, the player.

Kirkwall, though, can go burn.

Absolutely, but I wouldn't make any judgements based on that feeling.

Ferelden will always be my home! (hawk quote I think)

Plain and simple!

I don't think so. I would be less likely to act against certain Fereldans, but not the nation as a whole.

Yes. I really don't care for the Orlesians.

Absolutely perfect. ;)

I, the player, love Ferelden and I'd be totally loyal if only I was in the game. But that doesn't make sense for my character to feel loyal to Ferelden while he might be Orlesian or I don't know what and has nothing to do with this country. ( I love Orlais too, anyway )

If the next human protagonist is Orlesian ( for example ), my character is going to think what its best for its nation, or for peace as an inquisitor , regardless of my love for Ferelden, which could happen to be an enemy anyway.

Each of my characters has different views.

I am personally getting sick of Ferelden but it doesn't mean my characters will feel the same.

Nope. I am sick of that barely relevant southern backwater kingdom of a backwater region with a backwater people that smell like wetdog. Its such a typical medieval kingdom.

I want Nevarra.

My characters who were Ferelden do, if the Inquisitor is also Ferelden he likely will as well

On the off chance I play a non-human Inquisitor they will act differently towards Ferelden

I definitely don't.  I loved all my wardens and most of them would have felt a deep loyalty to Fereldan, but I'm ready for a new character with a new allegiance!  If the inquisitor is Ferelden (which I'm hoping they aren't!), then I guess so, but otherwise, I'm ready for a new place to tie my character to.

Why would I feel a sense of loyalty to a country that reeks of wet dog and garbage?

I mean I kinda wonder how many people went pro-Legion in Skyrim simply because the past 4 games involved saving the Empire.

I know a few people said it felt wrong tearing down something they built up in past games.

I feel loyalty to Ferelden because my Cousland and Alistair are the Queen and King. If my Inquisitor is from Ferelden, then she will be loyal to it as well.

This sort of thing is hard. As the player, I have built a loyalty to Ferelden. As for the Inquisitor, I want to play him/her the way it would fit for their character, and I'm not sure they'd even be Fereldan (certainly not if they're not human).

Yeah, it's where we were first introduced to the world of Dragon Age.

No. Most of my in-game time there was spent as a moody Dalish woman who was bitter and resentful of nearly everyone who lived and breathed in the country. With the exception of her dog.

Despite all the time I played in Fereldan, not much.

I think the reason being that there were so many factions and opposing viewpoints in DAO that I never had a very strong sense of unity among Fereldans. In DA2, my canon Hawke was loyal to Kirkwall, not his homeland. He even had a sort of Batman-esque hero complex over the city too.

So no, my Inquisitor will not have too much of a loyalty to Fereldan though he will appreciate the individual spirit of the nation of underdog (lords).

Personally, no, zero loyalty to Fereldon. I want to play new characters from new places, with new geopolitical perspectives. Some of my characters are very loyal, though. Attitude by orrigin: 1. f city elf- conflicted, more loyal to the elf cause, ce and dalish, but holds office  2. King Cousland- very devoted, not a strict nationalist  3. m dalish- antagonistic, loyal to dalish  4. m mage- antagonistic, other than A&A, loyal to Morrigan, mage freedom  5. m dwarf noble- ambivalent, loyal to Orzammar, his sons  6. f casteless- loyal & grateful, andrastian convert, but more loyal to family  7etc. Hawkes, ambivalent, only really loyal to family, LI, mage freedom. I never saw a real reason for their real loyalty to any particular place. More 'I am where I am, best make do'.

Sympathy, yes. Loyalty, no. Ferelden has one or the other agreeable political tradition, but it's also a somewhat backward country too obsessed with its dogs. My main Warden (a mage) is Fereldan but it's also a bastion of Andrasteanism which he doesn't like. Its Circle is less disagreeable than others but still a Circle, and his is a wider perspective anyway. Hawke was Fereldan, too, but grew out of it. As a player, it was the first place on Thedas I visited, and that creates a persistent connection but not more.

So, from both character and player perspective, there is something like the nostalgia of an adult man or woman for the place they were born and grew up in. Which means that with everything else being equal, I would give Ferelden more consideration than other places. The thing is, however, that everything else is rarely equal.

Not even slightly.

Thedas as a setting is interesting in an academic sense, but I can't say I'd shed a tear if it got destroyed by a comet tomorrow.
