This is the question I been wondering about in a very long time and a very importent at that. Since our Warden and Hawke might make another appearance in Inquisition, how will they LOOK LIKE!? problably like ****, I presume. Will they give us a option to re-costumize their face and all!? ![]()

No one knows, and we can only speculate. Some have had the theory of giving us access to the character creator for our Wardens and Hawkes, but opinions differ on how that should be implemented in the game.

If we don't get to redo them, I don't want them in the game, to be honest.
AND considering that I don't think they bothered to save the face morph of the Warden/Hawke in the save files AND we are using the Keep instead of saves to import...
Chances are we are gonna get to fix them up Frostbite 3 style. Or they're gonna be hooded/masked so we can't see them.

we would have to, if you cant upload your old saves then the only uses would be cannon hawke... and there really was no cannon warden regardless of who you chose... so i say 99% we at least get to recreate the warden

had an idea for this in another thread, might as well re-post it here:
Wouldn't it work...
If the way you'd see the warden or hawke would be by finding a journal of someone who's venturing alongside them?
And then have a segment where you can play as the warden or hawke while the inquisitor narrates what happens,
whenever you choose something as the warden or hawke,
the inquisitor narrates what the person alongside hawke or the warden thinks/sees of what you chose to do.
So the reason behind what the warden or hawke's actions are still yours because they don't right out express themselves
but rather you see the perspective of someone who witnesses these events.
Imagine something like Bastion for lack of a better example, but with the inquisitor as the narrator of the journal.
probably never gonna happen, but it's still an idea for the devs to try out for other games if they want ![]()
As for appearance, i'd go for a character creation bit, if that's not possible then i'd go with the helmet/hood/silhouete type of thing

never played halo 2 really so i don't know if there is such a sequence and how it's handled.
if so, that's interesting. Did they execute the idea well?

I figure if we see the Warden they'll be masked and likely silent. As for Hawke, wouldn't surprise me at all to see them default his/her look. These are my expectations, that way if we get more from them I'll be content and since my expectations are bare minimum I won't be disappointed at all with Hawke or the Warden.

Eh well kind of, nobody knew about it till it happened... you play the first few missions as the chief then they dropped it on you... *super friends announcer voice* meanwhile with the arbiter... it was refreshing and they brought the story lines together, but it was very surprising when it happened... made for a good co-op partner in halo 3

At one point in time (long time ago, before they announced they were using the Frosbite Engine or that it was coming out on next-gen systems), I had thought it would be very easy to get Hawke into the game - they could import your appearence data through the save file, and just use default Hawke if you didn't have a save.
I think I heard somewhere that the DA Keep won't have any character appearence data in it. Which makes me think if Hawke (or the Warden) appears, they'll either use the default appearence (which I would be very upset about and think most people would as well), or have a character creator pop up - which I would think would ruin the moment, but whatever. Then I would actually have to remember what all my Wardens and Hawkes actually looked like.

Pretty sure our holy lord and savior Gaider said if the Warden and Hawke made an appearance, they would give us a way to recreate them for DA:I.
Or maybe I made that up. Don't remember and I can't bother to go digging for comments.

If we're actually going to SEE our Warden and Hawke I belive that they'd give us a way to customize them.
The Keep having a character creator is possible...

I think it more likely that if they do appear they will either be masked/hooded so you can't see their features or they will be altered in some way, with an explanation given for the change in appearance, for example magical disfigurement.
Alternatively we will just hear about them or find their journals/inscriptions on walls, etc, tracing their movements from where we last heard of them. Given the multiplexity of Wardens we could carry over, race as well as appearance, allowing us to customise this character for what would probably amount to only a small section of story does seem a bit excessive. I personally wouldn't want them to divert resources away from the main game to achieve this.

It doesn't seem to me it would take *that* much effort/resource-diversion to apply the character creator to two additional characters. There are a number of RPGs where you create more than one character and they show up as you designed them (NWN2 SoZ being the most salient example to me).
I would say the more problematic pieces of all of this would be: 1) given all the variability in the Warden's personality/romances/etc (Hawke overall has much less variability in this sense I think), making a story/quest that could potentially involve all of the possibilities such that people feel it's "their Warden" and 2) figuring out how to do the voice acting for the Warden, again so that people aren't all "wtf that isn't my Warden." I believe Gaider has expressed these ideas already though.
The absolute best possible outcome (to me anyway) would be having Hawke and the Warden join the Inquisitor near the end as part of your party (or perhaps with their own parties with each having a separate task) and kicking veil-tearing butt in a end-of-ME2- or ME3-Citadel-on-crack way. Perhaps it'll happen in another game though..... They wouldn't have to worry much about people who haven't played those games, as they could just give them default Warden Commanders or Hawkes (choosing male or female and class maybe). Omg do this.

i think the warden will be in blood dragon armor and does not talk and hawke maybe a import or default female or male like how we got to pick revans gender with in star wars kotor 2 the sith lords

The problem with letting us re-create them in the CC is that it would spoil that they are in the game. If they did bring them in I would assume it would be a quick cameo and kind of a surprise easter egg kind of thing. Just me two cents.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had them both wear helmets to cover their face and muffle their voice if they make a cameo (which i hope they do).

Posté 15 avril 2014 - 07:40
I honestly don't want my warden to be wearing a helmet. As a dwarf fan I can't stand my dwarf's beard disappearing because of the "bad" implementation of helmets. In certain games the beard clips through the helmets and in a game series such as Dragon Age the beard is completely removed as if my dwarf is beardless. I don't really care about the actual look of the warden, as long as the keep knows the race my favorite warden is because of the options in the keep. I am also not a fan of my warden staying a mute in a world where everyone else can talk. I have also yet to hear a player character voice over I didn't like in any of the games I have played. I don't really have a specific voice in mind with any of the characters I play and in a lot of games the characters I play are no longer mutes anyway, which stops me from having to imagine it.

The champion armor with a closed face. Gender might be imported.

I would think it would be hard to create hawke and the warden again but you never know with all the new tools they are using. I could really see them wearing a hood or having their face covered, especially hawke..well at least my hawke. Shes on the run with Anders..and my warden shes just gone. I have a feeling that they could be both on the run from something, the same something or who and if thats the case they could be in hiding and have someone else talk for them while they are off in the distance and you see their back or their appearance is hidden. I honestly don't really care how they do it, I just want to know what happened why did they just vanish?

If they do decide to have the Warden and Hawke show up, that was what I was figuring they would do. Since there is a good chance that the Warden will be voiced, it'll probably be some sort of basic voice that can be flagged for gender and then just keep them helmed. With Hawke, probably the default design of whatever gender you picked. I don't mind seeing them again, in any fashion.
@Ajra That's the part I'm most curious about. Not how my former PC looked, but why did my Queen Warden-Commander leave Ferelden? Why did Hawke, who also fled Kirkwall with Anders by her side, suddenly up and vanish? I know that the Warden and Hawke is out of my hands now, and BioWare is going to do what they want with the characters. I'm far more intrigued by those plot elements than their looks.

I'd like to see the Warden and find out why he left Ferelden..
Hawke can turn up in a ditch with a broken neck for all I care

I think the Warden should have become mute during the time between Origins and Inquisition. That way everyone can still have what they thought the voice sounded like.
