I think the Warden should have become mute during the time between Origins and Inquisition. That way everyone can still have what they thought the voice sounded like.

I can see them adding flags to the Keep just for the voices out of a preset list for the Warden.  I can't see a full blown CC in the Keep (and I think that's been thoroughly debunked) but I can see them having different voices for the players to choose from for their Warden.   That's my guess, anyhow.  <shrug>

I think if they do add (and they should) a way to modify visuals of Warden and Hawke, it should be as someone mentioned, during the game, perhaps after picking up a journal or having someone tell quizzy about them. That's even how it happened with Varric to Cassandra in DA2 right? Early on, sure, but I don't see a fundamental difference or problem. It'd be easy to not totally break immersion by just allowing a quick default button (dependent on race / class / gender as brought in by Keep save).

If either my warden or hawke is implemented as an npc, it should be in some kind of etheral form like during Legacy. Considering they're both missing somewhere, I don't expect to see them anytime in the near future.

Them appearing is one of my worst fears. Really hope they remain presences offscreen as seeing stock generic charicatures that destroy my previous protagonists would be heartbreaking.

Really the only way to do this would be to have The Warden and Hawke only be encountered as apparitions within the Fade, so their appearance and characterisation are simply what the Inquisitor imagines them to be like, similar to the apparitions encountered within the Gauntlet in Origins.

As a result, everyone's head-canon will be preserved.

This could even be highlighted in dialogue, such as a default Hawke appearing if Varric is with you.

Inquisitor: So, was the Champion really like that?

Varric: Sorta, bit taller maybe? And the hair was a little scruffier... And s/he constantly had a smudge of red paint across their nose, I was never sure whether to point it out or not?

What scares me the most is that i might have to hear my warden talk, with a voice actor behind it. It will probably sound completely different than it does in my head :(

I don't think they COULD do this. There's no way to account for the looks and sex of either given all the variables and mods. So that would be weird to say the least if it wasn't your character unless you are supposed to forget the many characters you played and be okay with them looking like they had a complete face life and possibly even race change for the warden. The warden alone would create complications because you've got three races and one of them could be the queen which might create more oddness if Alistair is in it. No, I think there will be some cursory mention of them, mainly the warden because other than the mage/templar issue and stopping the quinari, there was zero impact from DA2 that really would even matter. That game was so far out of the realm of whatever the big picture might be, especially if they are shifting off the mage/templar thing which I hope they are, that hawke feels irrelevant to everything. The warden however does not. But I think they can only mention him/her and probably only refer to them as The Warden. Anything else might really throw people out of immersion as you would be seeing a character you played that build this story but might not look at all like your ideal playthrough. Best they can do is reference it much like skyrim does with the hero from Oblivion.

But that was never was many people chose so really they can't even do that. It would have to be more like what they did with the quarians in the geth consensus where it's acknowledge that because you never saw him/her, you have your own expectations and project them. Best they could do for the warden is get the race/sex right and best they could do for hawke is get the sex right.

The problem with having the Warden is really the voice, it's be impossible to represent your headcanon Warden precisely.

For example, my Mage Warden is wise, authoritative and a little bit of a chessmaster. My Human Noble and Dwarf Nobles use humour to mask their family tragedies and feelings of loss. My Dalish Elf is a proud warrior race guy, yet still tolerant of human culture. My City Elf has a smart mouth, a chip on their shoulder and is something of rebel, but nonetheless wants to help people. And my Dwarf Commoner is cheeky, irreverent and street-smart.

And that's just my take on the various Wardens. It'd be impossible to do everyone's version justice.

If they're in there at all, I'd like the Warden silent and helmeted, and Hawke helmeted- preserve my headcanon! If they had to give the Warden a voice, I guess I could swallow it. But I'd still like helmets on both. I want to be able to imagine that my Hawke and my Warden are under there. But honestly? If there's not a legit reason for them to be in there and interacting with the Inquisitor, then I'd rather they stay out. I'm terrified that these two characters- especially the Warden- are so personal to me that any attempt to bring them back as an NPC would just not live up to my expectations. Realistically, how could it? BioWare has no idea all the crazy shenanigans I imagined for my Warden and Hawke after their games.
