Not really sure where to put this but I was just looking at these two pics again:

tumblr_n1x51vkPfZ1qgyqveo5_r1_1280.png

Followers.jpg

Which is basically the rumored list of followers/companions and I noticed two things.

1.) There are only, by my count, 3 females in the entire group.

2.) It appears there are a total of 3 mages.

For the first it seems slightly on the low side.  DA:O had 3 females and 4 females if I am counting properly (and not including Shale).  DAII had 3-4 of each depending on if you had Sebastian and which of your siblings survived.  Now, based on those two pics IF they are indeed the companions that's 3-females to 6 males, it seems kinda nuts.

And for the second little stat, do we really need 3 mages to choose from?

I dont think Cullen will be a companion. I think we might be missing a rogue that no one has seen, that would complete the 3/3/3 ratio

Cullen probably is an NPC, but I still doubt we'll get another female, honestly.

I agree, from what we have been speculating, it looks like the male to female ratio is a tad lopsided in favor of the guys, and that bothers me a little. But it's still possible that BioWare could surprise us completely with that final companion, and it could be a female.

Yeah, I'm starting to think that we'll really only get 3 females. Then again, it's kinda hard to imagine Bioware going with a 6:3 ratio here. Can you imagine the backlash?

What's wrong with 3 mages, if they are different in both character and gameplay (that last one most likely being up to the player to form)?

And considering there are 4--possible--Warriors and only 2 Rogues in the artwork, I would be pretty certain one of them is not a companion and one is missing, if what we learned at Pax that Inquisition will have a 3/3/3 role set.

Why can't Grey Warden guy be a rogue?

Why can't Grey Warden guy be a rogue?

In game footage showed him as a sword/shield warrior.

Why all the certainty that Cullen isn't a companion?  I would think him being confirmed as a LI would lead people to believe he is a companion.

Cullen and Mr Mustache are hardly confirmed, One or both of them could turn out to not be companions. If so I hope the last companion is a female, A  female dwarf or a Qunari would be amazing.

Why can't Grey Warden guy be a rogue?

Because he has been shown carrying a shield.

They could have changed his class at some point.

Nah, cause they then told us we had an even 3/3/3 split with companions, and we have three warriors already - Cass, IB, and the GW. The GW has been shown in a combat vid briefly, and so that makes us think Cullen is an non-follower romance.

He's consistently been shown as a warrior, so I doubt it. There's no real reason to suspect they would change him.

Weapon restrictions, warriors get sword and shield, and 2H, rogues get daggers and bows.

He's always been shown as a S&S which likely won't change, since the finished the companions awhile ago.

Why would it bother you? I thought if anything, you'd be dancing of joy  ;)

Allot of the Cullen speculation seems to be based on wishful thinking on both sides. We really have no idea if he is or isn't but it's perfectly possible that he isn't especially seeing as they announced him as an LI but not as a companion. So I think either he isn't or they are going to have some kind of reveal thing for him.

Because we're gonna have a 3/3/3 ratio as far as classes go. Cassandra is a confirmed warrior and companion and Manly Grey Warden has been shown as an example of companion customization, as well as in gameplay, as a sword/shield warrior. This leaves 1 warrior slot to fill out, with either Iron Bull or Cullen being the possible candidates. And I don't think anyone really doubts that Iron Bull will be a companion.

Add to that that the devs have stated that Cullen being a LI does NOT necessarily mean he'll also be a companion and I think we have a pretty good guess here.

As has been said many times. IB could be a rogue like the Arishok, we really don't know.

Did we really need another thread about companion speculation?

He could be, but wasn't he shown with a two-handed sword or something?

Oh, really? I must have missed that. If that is the case then Cullen probably isn't a companion.

I thought companions wise the list would be 3/3/3 rogues mages and warriors...as well as three advisors for various military matters, it could be those pictures include a couple of your advisors and not companions.

I missed them saying it doesn't mean he is a companion.  Though, if he wasn't a companion I would think they would just say it rather then dance around it......Maybe there is a if or companion choice similar to your brother and sister in DA2.  I don't know, I just find it odd that Cullen would be an LI but not a companion.  For all we know the GW is a temporary companion.

Has the 3/3/3 thing been confirmed, or is it just from the comment from Lady....whatever her name is blog.
