I thought companions wise the list would be 3/3/3 rogues mages and warriors...as well as three advisors for various military matters, it could be those pictures include a couple of your advisors and not companions.

The picture is old and just an attempt by someone to draw up the companions, it isn't official.

I missed them saying it doesn't mean he is a companion.  Though, if he wasn't a companion I would think they would just say it rather then dance around it......Maybe there is a if or companion choice similar to your brother and sister in DA2.  I don't know, I just find it odd that Cullen would be an LI but not a companion.  For all we know the GW is a temporary companion.

Has the 3/3/3 thing been confirmed, or is it just from the comment from Lady....whatever her name is blog.

True, there's still a possibility that he may be a companion. The whole theory just kinda goes along very well with the assumption many people have that there will be 6 LIs with two of them being NPCs. But yes, at this point, most of what we assume is based on speculation.

Cullen and Mr Mustache are hardly confirmed, One or both of them could turn out to not be companions. If so I hope the last companion is a female, A female dwarf or a Qunari would be amazing.

Two dwarven rogue companions seems odd

There are two human warriors and mages (mustached mage included), so why not?

I also hope the space could be taken by a qunari female. It would make sense considering their use as assassins by the Qun. Also makes sense why Bioware would be so secretive about her since we've never seen a qunari female in game.

I'd love for that to happen, but it seems unlikely. The likelihood of more than one being in your party has always gone: Humans -> Elves -> Dwarves -> Qunari

And I can't really see that changing. They want to keep Qunari party members special, I guess.

For humans yea, because most of our companions will always be human

If anything I'd expect the 3rd rogue to be atleast a female qunari, another human, or Cole himself

Eh i dont think that comes to their minds when doing this, at least to that extent. Having a female qunari is unique enough to seperate her from the iron bull. Plus again, this is our first time seeing a female, what better way to take advantage of that then by making her a companion? I know that same thought had to run by someone in the development team

I can't see there being two Qunari companions.  I may be wrong, but with the inquisitor being potentially valshoth I don't see them throwing another qunari in at this point.  I could see us meeting females as NPCs.

yeah, but the only open slots are mage and rogue... unless the companion is sandal, you cant have a dwarf mage so it would have to be a rogue

As has been said many times. IB could be a rogue like the Arishok, we really don't know.

They said at PAX he's a warrior.

Starts out as a two-handed warrior but you can respec him as sword and shield.

Great now I'm thinking about sandal as a mage companion. That would be...different at the very least.

It sure would create interesting companion dialogue.

Inquisitor: "Sandal, what do you think of Cassandra's..."

Sandal: "Enchantment!"

Inquisitor: "Enchanted indeed."

I know Sandal will be in but I hope he's slightly toned down in prominence compared to the last two games.

So I recently posted this is another companion thread, but I don't think that the 6:3 gender ratio is that unlikely.  It's not ideal, certainly, but it's not like we couldn't have somewhat similar ratios in other games.

If we look at a male mage Hawke, he's got 8 companions (including Sebastian) and it's a 5: 3 gender ratio.

And if we look at DA: O, we've got 9 companions with possibly only 3 females depending on how you count Shale.  I tend to consider her a "her", but she seems to not really identify as a female (Isn't there a dialogue with her about her gender identity where she discusses this?), so it's a bit fuzzy.  If you don't count her as female, then it's 4 males, 3 females, a genderless golem, and a dog (who's technically male).

I guess, I'm just saying that, while I would really like another female companion (also would love a lady dwarf or lady qunari), I just think it's becoming more and more likely that it's going to be just the three that we know about.  I'm having a hard time believing that if there was a 4th lady companion, we wouldn't have caught sight of her somewhere by now.  She's not in the concept art, gameplay footage, leaked survey, magazine articles, PAX annoucements, etc.  Unless they are purposefully hiding her, that seems like a big coincidence (although I guess it could be possible).  I think that the only gals that we have seen and haven't been able to figure out their role are Scribe Girl (who's almost certainly not going to be a companion given that she's never been shown in the field or with a weapon) and the blood mage apostate lady from those two concept art pieces about the templars.  I'm thinking that she is probably just a random character for the pictures, though.

Likewise, while I'd prefer a 5/4 split, I don't think 6/3 will be bad, considering we have a promising line up of strong female characters in NPC roles; Morrigan, Celene, Justinia, just to start.

Yeah, but we havent seen any other characters other than the seven we have seen.... so there's two slots that we havent seen in anything

apparently devs said there would be a 'balance' in the companions roster or words to the effect of 3/3/3

The even class split is official as much as it is what people heard last Friday out of Mike's mouth (it was answered to a question about making a a full mage party and he gave a full warrior party example as well).

The advisors thing is from a one year old leak on 4chan that is full of mistakes (that I do not care to lists).

For a company that strives for more progress and equality, it's odd that Bioware favours male companions more than female.

Well we've seen DHMG in concept art as a party member, so that's something.  And, while I hate the idea of him being a companion, we did see Cole as a possible companion in the leaked survey, so that's another.  That would also be one mage and one rogue, which seems to be our openings.

Of course, this is purely speculation.  I'm hoping I'm wrong about Cole, but we do have some evidence (albeit not much and also not the most reliable) to suggest those two.
