This is the perfect type of sex scene for DA:I.

Number 3.
I think option 3 if they can do it well, and option 1 if not. Option 2 is just goofy, and I don't need a video game to be go full porno on me like The Witcher.
But how do you feel about man side-boob?
anyone else think family guy when they read this
To be honest, I'm a bit confused why it would be a "risk" to include nudity in a game that is not targeted at children. But then again I never understood why graphical violence is totally fine, but something natural like sex and nudity is still a difficult topic when it comes to video games.
That said, the only option I dislike (a lot) is 2 - sex in underwear. That's downright insulting... I'd prefer option 3, like in ME1, but if that is not an option for DA:I, then, please, just do a simple fade to black and let us use our imagination.
Main stream news media still doesn't recognize that some(arguably most, at this point) video games aren't targeted at children.
That being said, it's not 2007 anymore. I think they could very easily get away with it in this day and age.

Comments like these make me feel old. That you can say "in this day and age" referring to the bad old days being in the 2000's...jesus, I need a drink.

To think that we'll be arguing about games to people born in the 2000's soon. I feel like I should grow a lawn just to kick people off of it.

Video game culture moves fast.
I mean, last year, Grand Theft Auto V came out; the game included blatant nudity, including full frontal male nudity and a rather explicit sex scene, and the primary controversy around it was a segment of the game where the player has to participate in torture.

Sounds lovely.
I played one of the older ones. Well, by played I meant cheat-coded myself a tank and other various weaponry and ran amok whenever I was in the mood for it.

Sounds like Vice City. That one was well known for its mods.

I was seriously surprised by that torture scene, and a bit irritated at it, which is kind of ironic since I could very well just traverse all of Los Santos by driving at full speed on the sidewalk.

It's not a game for everyone.
I'm just saying, if a series like GTA, which is built on controversy, is forced to go to lengths like that, to where the nudity and sex scenes hardly get a mention in talks about it, then Dragon Age can get away with well done, tasteful nudity.
B ) I have no idea what the point is of your rambling in the middle here, except that you look fondly on past sexism in video games?
C ) I also never conflated erotica with porn. You're reading a lot into my words that I never ever said. Even if I had equated erotica with porn, it wouldn't matter, because I have no problem with the graphic nature of pornographic content. I only take issue with the fact that it's exploitative.
D ) Once again, whether or not nudity has any literary merit is completely beside the point. I was never addressing that. I'll freely admit that nudity can have literary merit, but I don't see how that's at all relevant, because literary merit is not what the people in this thread are looking for when they ask for nudity.
B.) is an amazing leap on your part, I suppose. So much so it's not worth answering.
C) I think there is a question as to whether it is or isn't. I guess you know there is a debate within the feminist community on this.
http://en.wikipedia....sitive_feminism
That would be the faction I tend to identify with, as I consider myself a (male) feminist.
Generally, they would tend to argue some is - and some isn't. A lot of the stuff produced by women (but not necessarily, of course), can fall in "isn't". Is a Cosmo spread on the subject exploitative? A scene in a romance novel written by a woman?
D) But it is when I am asking for it.
(*) BTW, as you'll note earlier, I wasn't necessarily asking for it from Bioware. ![]()
(*) I would be lying if I said it didn't arouse both mind and body. But both are often linked by the soul. It's the disconnect between all three that D.H. Lawrence saw occurring in civilization that ... aroused him, to write.

Note: This is just my personal opinion and in no way substantiated.
I think it's because violence and bloodshed is a natural end to the conflicts action games like Dragon Age revolve around thus they are easier to accept and justify.
Sex scenes to me on the other hand are a lot harder to justify as anything but viewer titillation, given developers have to go out of their way to show us a couple having sex .Then comes the questions of if such a scene is even necessary in the first place:do we need to see the gory details to know the act occurred? And what relevance can an explicit sex scene have on the plot or gameplay?
Imagine me and Cassandra in some enchanted pool, in full armor, rubbing breastplates against each other.
I have to say this sound very hot but i am worried about the re sale value for the breastplates , will the enchanted pool protect from rust and * cough cough * the scratches on the breastplates ?
Of course Witcher style, but it won't happen.

I'd argue that the core of any Bioware game is the story and the characters over the action. Sex scenes are part of the natural evolution of the romantic relationships our characters develop, just the same as a sword to the gut is a natural part of the combat in between.
As for what relevance they have to the plot; possibly plenty, depending on what exactly goes on during those scenes.
Now, I'm not calling for overly explicit sex scenes. Like I said in my first post in this thread, I think the scenes should be crafted to best fit the tone and progression of the romance, however that happens. All I'm saying is that there's no reason to shy away from nudity if it's appropriate to the scene.
I think I'd rather have deeper more meaningful romantic moments than more graphic deceptions of my toon jumping someone's bones.
Especially not with the awkward animations video games are known for.
Fully clothed and in the dark, Puritan style. All you'd hear would be some soft whispering, a few giggles and an "OH MY GOD! THAT WAS GRRRREEEEAAAATTTT!"
Remember the episode of Family Guy where one of gags was Dwyane Johnson just banging two toys together. Something like that but with a inquisitor toy and LI toy.

@ Killdren 88 Sounds interesting maybe Varric could be the narrator and use the toys as props in the story ![]()
@ Murcury Elf LMAO ![]()
number 4 if you please (why try to make something artificially artsy? why hide what adults know anyway? - these games are for grown men and women, not (small) children after all)
I really don't get it - how can there still be any debate (how can there still be so many uptight prudes out there?) about something like this, it's not the afternoon children's channel on TV after all (!)
Note: I am from europe, so I really have no patience for prudish americans (not that all of you guys are like that!)
greetings LAX
ps: no, i don't use the games as porn of some kind, but hiding something that should be as natural as breathing is something that SICKENS ME TO THE CORE (how inhibited/fridgid are you? - note: talking to those that are ok with children playing games with gore but if a nipple is seen think the world might end *shakes his head in frustration while muttering about prudes*)
