3 is fine, I just want to see different scenes. In DAO they felt more or less the same (plus underwear )

Option 1 is always a decent idea. Also I would think it's much easier to implement.

Option 2 was just silly to watch.

Option 3 is probably my preference. Definitely better than 1 or 2, but doesn't quite push it too far into 4.

Option 4 is great and everything, but I think it's unnecessary.

#1 - I'd be okay with #1, because I don't really need to see virtual characters having sexyfuntimes. But only if they do it well; it's kind of weird to F2B, then have characters appear fully-clothed right afterwards... with their weapons still equipped. 

 

#2 - No. It just looks silly.

 

#3 - I'd prefer #3, following the way ME1 did it. Tasteful, not full-on frontal. 

 

#4 - No. It's unnecessary and was probably just make the rating go higher in some countries, which could mean less sales. If you want to see full-frontal nudity, there's the Witcher, Game of Thrones, and certain.. websites.

 

 

 

So, #1 or #3. As long as it doesn't

 

a) look weird/stupid/creepy/hilarious,

or

b ) cross the line into way-too-much-nudity

 

then I'm okay with it.

Personally I don't really care but I don't see why Bioware should be afraid of full frontal nudity, I mean the game is marketed as "mature" right?

I'm not bothered personally, so long as there's some nice conversation before and afterwards. Preferably in a nice setting, unlike DAO's standing around outside the tents. I like it when it comes with a nice bit of insight into the LI's personality/history.

After DA:O, the #1 method in DA2 was disappointing. Two completely dressed people jumping on a bed – black. No, no.

#2 was DA:O, and it looked ridiculous. "Naked" mods were the first to appear...

#3 has, IMO, the best balance between suggesting and leaving enough to the imagination to be sexy. #4 (the method of the "better sex mod") was overkill and awkward.
 

I like the idea of 3 but as of now I want no sex scenes at all unless they can animate it well ( the sight of Morrigan crawling towards me in her underwear was horrifying). So I'd prefer fade to black.

Im sure the frostbite engine fixed that problem

An engine is only as good as the people using it. And I don't think animating convincing sex scenes is actually a priority for them. (Or maybe someone will throw in some extra night hours for them...)

As for those people who are concerned about "seeing too much", maybe there could be a switch similar to "gore" switches in the options: "just fade to black"/"Be tasteful"/"Show me everything"...?

I've always wonder what exactly the rest of your companions do during that.

 

You don't exactly have a lot of privacy. Do they just awkwardly turn away and try to go to sleep and block it out or something? Does Shale continue to watch you like she does most of the rest of the time?

If it was done right in mass effect, it can be done right in DA

So they should handle it in a mature way instead of the full nudity sex scenes that reek of "Look! Boobies!" mentality.

(I will say there are a few games that do well with full nudity and keeping it mature, but those are few and far between from what I've heard.)

That Morrigan scene was kind of horrifying, but mostly because in all but one of my playthroughs, it was sexyfying sex with a character that wasn't really wanting to do the do.

 

 

 

Isabela's sex scene was one of my favourites. I kind felt the the Origins sex scenes were too goofy. (Yet, I liked when my dude shep and Kaidan rolled around in bed...so it's not a nudity thing...)

 

So, tasteful nudity, romance, etc are fine. I just don't want the whole nookie scene to be like the stuff you find in sex games or stuff that's so goofy as to make me giggle at the ridiculousness/awkwardness of it all.

Of the four options number three is the best route to go.

 

Option 1: The problem with the first option (fade to black) is that it isn't very cinematic at all, at least if it fades to black and then immediately fades back in to the Inquisitor and companion standing around fully clothed in the positions they were in before a conversation had been initiated. A fade to black could work if instead during that fade we get a cutscene depicting action elsewhere in the world of Thedas, sort of like that DA:O cutscene where we see Loghain hiring Zevran to kill the Warden. Then it could be followed by cutting back to the Inqusitor and the character in question having some post-coital dialogue after having putting their armor and what not back on. 

 

Option 2: Having characters rolling around in their underwear is probably the worst choice of the bunch, since you'll end up with scenes that look either unintentionally funny or very unnatural. Think DA:O's romance scenes with characters posing in their underwear in the middle of the camp, or Traynor and Fem Shep's clothed shower scene. Since this strains suspension of disbelief a bit (or worse, invites mockery from the audience) a fade to black would be better.

 

Option 3: Having nude characters with their naughty bits either obscured by strategic cameral angles or tricks with the lighting, is probably the safest route to go. Nudity is implied making the scene feel more natural, yet it doesn't include anything too risque that runs the risk of crossing over into gratuitous content. You also don't run as large of a risk as fade-to-blacks or clothed grinding of the scene feeling uncinematic, or unintentionally funny.

 

Option 4: This is probably the riskiest of the bunch, for obvious reasons. Its hard to pull off without the content coming across as juvenile or gratuitous. If you do go that route, you have to tread very carefully. The Witcher is often put forward as a good example of a series that pulled this off, but while I'm a fan of the Witcher, I'm not entirely in agreement. I think the Witcher 2 includes good examples of both graphic sex scenes done well and good examples of graphic sex scenes that are gratuitous. The Rose of Remembrance scene was very well done, but the sex scenes with random prostitutes and minor NPCs were fairly gratuitous. Other than the Rose of Remembrance scene the others felt tacked on just to cater to the average male gamer.

I don't know, this is a tough question for me because I don't think I've actually ever seen a GOOD sex scene in a game? I downloaded the "better sex" mod or whatever it's called for DAO, and it was... entertaining, but not for the right reasons. Sex scenes oddly enough end up breaking my immersion. Because it's suddenly HUGE PAINFUL LOOKING MUSCLES and TRIANGLE BEWBBBSS... Maybe if they could get better body models, I don't know.

 

But honestly I would trade all Bioware sex scenes for additional cuddles/romance.

I don't know about Shale, but Alistair was staring over my Warden's shoulder, warming his hands on the fire during her entire post-sex conversation with Zevran. It was veeeeery awkward.

Well, I don't really have much of a preference except I don't want to be watching porn. I often play with my teenage daughter in the room, so I don't want it to be something too out there.

 

This is basically how I feel (minus the teenage daughter )

 

I liked the DA2 scenes and I enjoyed the ME3 scene with Kaidan (only ME scene I've played)
