I don't understand the reasoning behind skipping Hunter Mode and then using Geth Scanner.
That would be because there is none...

To each their own. I prefer to sacrifice points in Geth Turret if I need them somewhere else. HM and Overload are pretty much non-negotiable to me on the GE.

Yes but those 375 shields matter dammit!!!! Nevermind that I could have a gear slot freed up for stronghold package which decreases shield recharge time and knocks down that base shields penalty to a couple of hundred points!! Or that I've cramped my movement speed, and damage output to save myself a couple of hundred points of shields.
