... how is he a melee boss if you skipped 40% extra melee damage from the Blade Armour tree?

Because you're. One I'd usually shoot at an enemy, SW, fire explosion. If a mook gets to close, all yehs gotta do is the light melee followed by a SW. BA messes around with the recharge of SW. Thus the reason for the scimitar. Slap the choke on it and the melee bonus and you're good. Besides, SW synergises with those who are rolling with a biotic or tech kit. I cannot stress the importance of SW and Inc. Ammo lmao!!!

2) Shockwave: Huh, good god, y'all. What is it good for? Do I put any points into it at all?

"Absolutely nothing. Say it again!"

I'm not normally too quick to jump in with build recommendations, but the BatSent is one of my favourite, and most used characters, and I haven't put any points in Shockwave for a very long time.  Horrible power - the most anti-social thing in the whole game.  If you're serious about playing him as a support class, I genuinely wouldn't spec into it, cos you'll probably be kicked from your next game.  The only time I miss Shockwave is when I can't 'return the compliment' to a sniper teammate who repeatedly targets the mooks I'm winding up to decapitate.

I pretty much only ever use the Kishock on him (off-host, quite happily), but looking at your manifest I'd recommend either the Harrier or Crusader.  He's the only kit other than the TGI that I would ever think of putting the Harrier on because of his great passives.

I understand the reluctance to get into CQC, but the Batarians' melee is one of the great powers.  It's just immense, if a bit slow.  Admittedly, the Soldier and Vanguard are even better, so it makes sense to spec the Sentinel as a pure tank, not forgetting that his Heavy Melee will still do 1600 damage even without enhancement beyond the basics from BA and Fitness.  If you do go for a tank, Shield Power Cells give a 1.6 sec shield recharge delay - or 1.28 with Stronghold Package!!!

He was one of the first characters I regularly took into Gold, and while his DPS can be underwhelming, he's almost immortal.  JIM!!!!!!

Blade Armor: 3 ranks
Shockwave: 4b, 5a, 6b
Submission Net: 4b, 5a, 6b
Enforcer: 4b, 5a
Fitness: 4b, 5b, 6b

Venom: Spare Thermal Clips / High-Caliber Barrel
Gear: Geth Scanner or Mental Focuser, Shotgun Amp, Incendiary Ammo or Disruptor, Cyclonic Mod or Adrenaline Module

Sheeesh, another bad kit... Well, no. This one is staggertown. He is made to keep people away from him, not only because he is grumpy. Why 5a on Shockwave? Well, chances are there will be at least one biotic primer in the team, so that already makes it worthwile. But you could also use 5b if you want to give you even more options to keep enemies at bay. Use Shockwave as much as you can. Double tap and follow up with a Shockwave everytime. Use your Sub-Net to incapacitate enemies hit by you gun. Due to the stagger, it'll almost always connect. 6b gives it even more incapacitation as enemies who just walk by the net will get shocked too and flinch around. This even works when the originally netted enemy is already dead, because it stays active until the time runs out or you fire a new one. Double tap netted targets and follow up with a Shockwave for tech-explosions. Excellent detonator for any kind of team with lots of CC, stagger and survivability. Destroy your enemies!

Best Batsent player I've ever seen by a mile. He is head and shoulders above everybody else with this kit and it's not even close. I would listen if I was the OP.

Other than for minor synergy with subnet.. and lore.. there's no reason why one would chose the Kishock. You can subnet/headshot with a myriad of weapons.

I like the idea of net. It's a very unique power and I've never had the opportunity to use it before. Maybe this build will be a throw-away, but I'm not in this to top the scoreboard.

I like the net to catch Phantoms and after catching... headshot. So i got 10 Headshot medal with the Graal.

You don't need more than 3 ranks of Net to do either of these things.  The rest of it only helps you prime Tech Bursts, or possibly do damage if you miss with the net.

Shockwave, although with its own set of innate problems, is probably the more useful power on this character in the majority of situations.  It is a good multi-detonator, and good for CC since it can stagger.

In any event, I run 5/6/3/6/6 so I have Net if I need to trap something, but otherwise have lots of shields and decent ammo supplies.  Since you can tank you can basically run around combo spamming with IA or DA on whatever gun you like using Shockwave as a detonator.  Don't take Radius on Shockwave 4, that is about the only one that matters a lot.  Otherwise, I prefer Reach at 5 since I can't prime for biotics myself anyway and no guarantee you will have a biotic on the team.  The last rank I prefer Recharge.

And for being one of the classically regarded worst characters, this sort of build is actually pretty user friendly for going to random gold games off host.

Heh - once I'd gotten around the verbal mutilation from your phone, yeah..

My previous post wasn't entirely serious - I don't really do half-measures on builds, if I'm going to do a melee kit, I tend to really pour everything into melee ... even if, in 99% of circumstances it's completed unwarranted and overkill :D

... however, if you're primarily detonating ammo effects with Shockwave, is it really worth all 6 ranks?

Disclaimer: I play on PC and the busted radius evo kinda borks Shockwave :|

Thanks big guy. The thing with my build though is that you gotta be really fuackin aggressive when playin him. That's the secret. Once I got the hang of em with that build, I played em like I played my Krogan Soldier. Like a Gangsta >.<

Thanks for the feedback - it was very well thought out. However, this is the type of build that I'd rather avoid. It looks like a very Venom dependant build and I know I would get bored with that very quickly.

No thanks. IMHO he's not playing the kit - he's playing the Venom shotgun. That's not the type of experience I want when I play. Not saying anything against his accomplishment. It simply is not what I'm looking for.

Why do you not take radius on Shockwave 4? I'm on Xbox, so I can take it if that is preferable. The build that you have looks good, but again, I really dislike shockwave. It doesn't track and I'm not the best with a controller. Also, this is my first kit with net and I want to play around with it. If I were to do that, do you know anything about 4a vs 4b? What does incapacitate even do?

The short of it is there is an error with the implementation of the radius evolution so taking it can cause it to bug out and not hit anything.  I don't know why this seems to affect PC more than xbox, someone else would have to answer that.

If you just have to max Net, then 4a vs 4b probably doesn't matter a whole lot, Incapacitate should make them sit around on the ground longer, Damage does more damage.  Slow at Rank 5 can be semi-useful for slowing annoying enemies.  For rank 6 I would tend to take Electric Field since it should do damage even if the net is used as a trap, at least from my recollection.  I haven't had a maxed net in a long time.

The above build posted with maxed Net and Shockwave isn't too bad, and really shouldn't be reliant on the Venom.  You could get away with using a variety of the guns.  In general I think Batarian Sentinel plays a little better focusing on tech combo spam off of ammo, so that is why I don't go all the way into Net, and try to max passive.

Very OP. Bahahah! All kidding aside, the reason I started rockin the damn thing was because of the shotty banner. It was like rediscovering fire. It may be a dumbed down version of the Pira, but once yehs get the hang of the rof, one begins to develop his or her pace. Shoot, shoot, shockwave. FireExplosion. Then yehs got to wait awhile to do another FE but by then, mooks will be dead. I also find the net very useful. Even against banshees, big P's, atlas's and the like. Phantoms are to easy. Yeah they can dodge the first and whatnot but once yehs get em stripped down they get caught up. I preffer the light melee though. Falcon is to slow and besides... beating an enemy to death with your weapons is the definition of Manlyness.

I suppose I don't have to max net, but I really really do not like shockwave. Plus the net is new to me. So, 1 + 1 = 2, you get the idea.

Whats wrong with using a good gun on a character?

BatSent doesn't have an iWin power like flamer of snap freeze to only use power spam and succeed. Sure, subnet + shockwave can give you nice TBs but half the enemies dodge subnet anyway.

Then again, you mentioned that you don't like shockwave. So, if you want to use subnet as your main power, you need a good weapon. You can't expect to do well with a shuriken and sub-net alone, atleast not on gold and above. You need a good weapon to do well and the powers are an excellent support.

That's part of the reason I use the Falcon on the Vorcha Hunter ... can't dodge when they're staggered :)
