Because the game demands it
I have no problems with plots like that but then it should be the focus, but then again such plots leave little space for roleplay.

Its Demands are oft times ridiculous its true.
Why is a game giving you enemies, considered ridiculous? This entire thing has just become an over complication of something that isnt realistic
I am already a slave in many ways. It doesn't necessarily have to mean that I can't enjoy my life.
Good to know, that it wouldn't take long to break you.

Well let's roleplay a Qunari then and take over Thedas or roleplay a Tevinter magister and conquer Thedas. Why should we always be forced to play someone who is against both of these ideologies? Let's have a different philosophy protagonist each game.

I don't brake I bend.

Random Hirelings, Thugs, Bandits, Wolves, Warges, Rogue Mages, Whatever.
Imperium Slavers though? There is a profit driven entity if their ever was one.
Why can you not align with one like you could the Tack hunters in KOTOR.
"That guy just hacked through fifty of my men! Who attacked for no reason, gave no warning and want nothing from them!"
"I will now ignore common sense, tactics and decency and charge over there sword swinging with three and defeat him!"

Again you're over complicating a mechanic of gameplay that wouldnt be practical if it were done the way you're thinking. We already have plenty of instances where we can negotiate with the "enemy" but because we cant negotiate with every enemy, that somehow significantly limits roleplaying.

We've already negotiated with a slavers, like i said, i dont understand how you two are making an issue out of not allowing us to negotiate with every enemy we encounter

Nah, I am talking about switching the enemy. Let's make Tevinter the protagonist for once and everybody who opposes slavery and Tevinter domination will be the e enemies that we can't reason with, or we could reason them into going into slavery instead of dying to our sword.
I don't brake I bend.
You could pray for a good Master, but ironically, slaves can't choose.

When life becomes worse than death the option is always there.

You think so? You are in for disappointment then.

That would likely sell poorly. You can't make a whole game out of the Darkspawn Chronicles.

Well if that's not an option then hey - sucks to be that person, need to just suck it up, life's not fair.

Overlord sold well.

Definitely a good slave. Tevinter would approve.

If you don't want to play the game of politics and live a more dangerous life as a master then the key is to be good at something, really good, and then when someone needs your service make sure they understand that they won't get that service unless they treat you right. As a rule people respect good service more than their ability to be an a$s.

But the slaves aren't given that option, you know. They cannot refuse the command or negotiate terms. I guess, after all you would need breaking to bring the mentality on acceptable level.

Look, unless you are a slave that is kept for torture/sex entertainment, it's too easy to make a stand and fight back. You will die most likely but that is an option that you still always have. No reasonable slave owner that wants to have proper comfort and safety ever drives their slaves to such a point. The ones that do cause the revolts and often lose their property and their lives.

Or your posture as a slave could change, if you make a stand. There's always lower levels of depravity. The slaves are interchangeable, after all, unless they possess some exceptional ability.
Also, you imply that the only other option - is death. But every person could be broken, you just have to know how, on individual level.

When you brake a person they are dead. And it's like I said, if you are an individual that sucks and has nothing to offer then your life sucks, if not and you are very good at something then your life is a lot better, or maybe you are so good that you end up at the top, that's how life works.
Well I am going to be a female qunari mage, so i bet they'll just love me lol , BRING ON THE CARNAGE WOO!!
Qunari mage needs to have that light show attack. Stuns weaker enemies, severely lowers accuracy for everyone else.
I wantz it my precioussssss
If the end result is Tevinter becoming a smoking pile of rubble and failure, I'd be happy to see the country "make a move" in a future installment.
I don't brake I bend.
Indeed. If you don't use the brakes on a car, you will bend.
When you brake a person they are dead.
No, if you don't mean mentally. *Theon Greyjoy*
