I prefer conversations about boats... :(

Also strangely enough Lob isn't even here.

I want to see more of the Thedosian concept of Warships.

They have Galleons, i want to see if that is it.

I'd imagine they arm their vessels with spitfires, scorpions and Catapults like other pre gunpowder navies but i am unsure.

If there were only mages left there would be no point. What for?

To gain a power over other mages? Isn't that quite obvious? You should know, that Tevinter magisters aren't some benevolent selfless force, caring for well-being of their brethren.

Every mage can use blood magic.. It wouldn't be about blood magic anymore, it would be about mages inborn talent and training.

Eh, i wouldn't want to see Galleons, if they represent the same concept as our medieval type of ships. They were pretty useless for warfare. Comparatively.

Yes, strong mages subdue and sacrifice weak mages. Darwinism in action.

Until they become more civilized yes, pretty much, that's how our world started.

They seem a more like a bunch of homicidally zealous missionaries to me.

Military dictatorship; Qun inquisition? The Qunari lives are heavily dictated by Qun, which they obey, and see it as their moral duty to forcefully educate those who do not comprehend, Kirkwall for example.

You mean they will draw their blood without killing? And that's how the perception of blood donation was started?

No one knows how that world would turn out. All we know is that once a society becomes more advanced and civilized a lot of active violence disappears, it becomes more passive invisible.

Human societies in the real world have always gotten more or less violent and more or less willing to brutally slaughter their neighbor to get slightly ahead, depending on the latest cultural shift with a tendency towards less violence on the whole as society moves forward. There's no reason to assume mages and Tevinter are different. Slavery and blood sacrifice doesn't have to be a staple of free-mage societies any more than allowing slavery and murder is allowed in our society. Being able to kill people weaker than yourself has it's advantages in any society, but that doesn't mean the majority always accepts and allows it.

You can besiege a coastal fortification with a fleet, even lay it to ruin while embarking troops.

Admittedly they weren't much good against other vessels unless if they were equipped to board or ram, but still.

That's mostly due to them being a rarity, we have already had a few "massive" naval battles between the Qunari and Thedas in the prior war, i wouldn't be surprised if it became a part of a future one.

And what do you think would happen to a race if qun had no use for them?

As I said the only thing that separates them from Nazis is their racial ideologies, other then that the followers of the qun conduct themselves very much like Nazis.

The Nazis saw people who wouldn't make their master race....6 feet 80kgs and as pasty as a vampire as getting in their way.

The qun focuses on finding a place for the individual rather then tarring entire races with the same brush. Still If you don't fit their mould the best you can hope for is a Labour camp.

They don't have a mold, they simply accept anyone the problem arrives when you don't accept the Qun as your way of life, that's when they sit you down and educate you in the Qun it's only after that, that they throw non believers into labor camps. As for that last part, you just gave support as to why they aren't alike.

I always assumed the main forces of FA consisted of brigantine, brig and frigate type of ships. Those seem to be a types to bite and fight dreadnoughts.

Kirkwall maintained a navy of at least a dozen War Galleons that's where i got the confirmation that that styling of ship existed in Thedas.

Look let's just move on its made clear that qunari re-education centres are "little more then Labour camps"

Its clear you want show the Qun in a positive light and wont accept anyone acknowledging the woeful behaviour of the qun.

Good to see we have qunari agents on the forum, love RP. :-P

How could the Qun have no use for a race? One of the tenants of the Qun is that everyone has a place in the Qun if they are willing to accept it.

Because racial identifiers only matters as much as you care about racial identity. The Qunari generally don't- what is important to them is your relationship with the Qun. You are a part of the whole, or you are not: all other distinctions pale before that one.

Americans have a similar racial trope when they identify as 'whites' or 'blacks' or 'asians' or 'hispanics': very broad categories that combine what in other places would be considered very distinct races. 'Irish-white' as opposed to 'italian-white' as distinct from 'scandinavian-white.' To most Americans, all the European races and ethnicities are just 'white.'

The Qunari do have racial classifications, but they aren't used as identifiers for the same reason you don't use the identifiers which you could but don't use.

I am keenly interested in a Qunari invasion. I simply wish to see how the Andrastians will deal with such a seemingly impervious and powerful enemy.

Aye.

But with an imminent Qunari/Magister invasion and the veil tears, I daresay we might just see some sort of reasonable solution to a few of the more substantial conflicts. If only to survive such foes.

You don't need to solve conflict to fight the greater threat, you just need to put the conflict aside for a while.

True.

Though one can romantically hope that such efforts will sustain in the long run.

It's a very big what if scenario that can go either way, I simply want the more positive outcome.

But if it must come to blows, I will be utterly merciless and vindictive.
