Yeah they are each others problem.
lol, gotta give it to you there.

How much battle training did Fiona and Felessan have? How often do they fight?
Good point, id like to know this. Would it be comparable to an average person compared to a boxer in terms of stamina?

Yes, merely being a mage and having the ability to cast spells doesn't mean that you are good at it, and you get better with training and experience. Then there's casting techniques that further improve performance.

Makes me want to see Tevinter Battlemages in action

I want there to be magic-martial arts schools in Tevinter.
Yes. If by "never" you mean "Soon".
You do realize that the war between Tevinter and Qunari lasts for at least a couple hundred years already? What makes you think that all of a sudden Qunari will destroy the Imperium in one swoop?

There are no difference between combat magic and non-combat magic when it comes to mana. It doesn't matter wether you cast fireballs or heals all day, if your mana (your magic muscle) isn't up to snuff you will get exhausted. Fiona being a Circle Mage would have recieved the exact same education and trainning as any other Circle Mage, which is pretty much the best available magical trainning there is, so if she gets exhausted after casting a few spells, then you can safely assume that this is normal for amges, and not what you see in the games.

Holding a position and actually mounting an invasion are different things. They've held Seheron and have held it through skirmishes for years, but the Qunari have made no legitimate effort to take Tevinter in one clean sweep, soon though....soon ![]()
I wonder why the Tevinters don't use their golems on the offensive

Golems aren't that effective against cannons.
Golems aren't that effective against cannons.
Yeah but I imagine they can wreak havoc on infantry
If the golems were that vulnerable to cannon then you'd think minrathous would have fallen

True, but they also make easy targets for Qunari artillery.
The reason they haven't taken Minrathous is in my opinion that they know the moment they do, the rest of Thedas will attack them. So they are building their forces to meet that. As Fenris says, "If the Qunari wanted to take it, they would." I know he was referring to Seheron, but same principle really.
Metagame wise, they haven't taken it yet because we need a game in Tevinter before involving the Tevinter vs Qunari plot. ![]()
Since golems are made with lyrium and some sort of magic, and if they are made with steel or such i imagine the primitive cannons the quanri have would not be very effective against them.

Considering that it was the invention of firearms(which back then were pretty much just handheld cannons) led to making steel armor useless, it's safe to say that full cannons would tear through steel golems.

If swords can effect golems, cannon fire can surely destroy them with ease

Steel plate wasn't made obsolete for centuries after gunpowder weapons were first introduced.

I gathered that the golems guarding Minrathous are on another level than the ones we fought in the Deep Roads
Steel plate wasn't made obsolete for centuries after gunpowder weapons were first introduced.
I know that. All I said was it led to it. And since Tevinter and Qunari have been fighting for centuries, it is only logical they have reached the same stage.
And these golems have weathered a world with magic that can inflict far greater destruction than any cannon fire.
The Qunari clearly want Minrathous, as they want the entirety of Thedas, yet here we are.

Not really
We don't know how comparable the qunari's weapons technology is to say the 15th century (when Constantinople fell), all we know is that their weaponry isn't so advanced as to render the Tevinters helpless against it
Steel plate wasn't made obsolete for centuries after gunpowder weapons were first introduced.
Trust me, if a Knight in full plate was to get hit by even one of the earliest cannons would still be dead. The early cannons were designed to tear down castle walls, which consisted of several tonnes of stones. Cannons will tear through golems.
Then there are also the fact that Golems are exceedingly rare, and thus cannot be used without consideration. Golems are probably limited to a deensive role, so as to not waste any of them.
Hum... I would say yes because Orlais is in a chaotic state and Nevarra is not that strong at the moment I think.
They would probably invade the Tevinter Imperium or Antiva, not sure if Antiva it is still on a civil war but I doubt it is that stable also. So I would say it is could be a excellent time.
On the other hand that could backfire since they are seeing as heretics and savages, that could also be an excuse to unite all the north under some religious alliance, against the horned beasts but than there is the mage rebelion so... I still think it is a good opportunity since they seem to have no dangers on the back of Par Vollen,
Actually If they succeeded on expanding into Antiva and Tevinter the rest of Thedas would be in danger with all the divisions, I would say Ferelden and the Anderfels would be the only places that probably would go unchecked for different reasons but for how long.

That's a more satisfactory answer
Early canons were wildly inaccurate, they were deployed against walls mainly because its the only thing they could hit. Even heavily armored infantry were able to overtake canon positions.
And Castle Walls weren't made of magic and steel

Golems are large.
And early cannons were actually quite often used agaisnt mass infantry. In these cases they used grapeshots, which technically are giant shotgun rounds, which tore entire units to pieces. Accuracy wasn't neccesary.
Golems are large.
and mobile
and made with magic and lyrium
