Mass Effect DLC seem pretty pricey

So I was looking at Mass Effect DLC and they seem very very pricey. It is odd because ME2 had DLC also but none that were 14.99. Are any of them good and add much? Have not played ME3 yet but looking into it. I am a little disappointed to see the DLC at that price. When I buy RPGs I like them to not have DLC or if they do they are a reasonable price.

NOTE: This is not a rant or anything of that nature I am just wondering why they are priced like that.

Because they want to make money. That's why. Nothing wrong with it, but that's how it is.

Now, if you want good DLC that adds depth, then get Citadel for the squad mate interaction and character returns.

For just pure gameplay shootey-shootey, then get Omega.

For backstory, get Leviathan.

For an extra squadmate, get From Ashes.

I spent more on the DLC than the main game, but I did buy the trilogy together so I saved some there. It's just how things are these days I guess.

I want story. Though just getting Mass Effect 3 will break me for a while with money. How much total will Citadel, Leviathan and Ashes?

See, for that kind of money you could get, like, almost 500 donuts in EA's The Simpsons: Tapped Out.

...OK, yes, damn it, I got hooked on it!

They actually make fun of people who do spend real-world money on premium content in the game's intro video. Incidentally, in-game, 500 donuts is about thirty short of buying Barney's bowling alley and a whale.

I remember that game it had me hooked for awhile. I eventually got mad and quit because all my friends had these epic towns while mine looked like crap so i just gave up.

I was weak and bought Omega not too long ago, along with the weapon packs

It's likely to make up for the fact that 1) the Extended Cut was released for free, and they had to make up the profits somehow, it's the business side of things, and 2) the DLCs for ME3 were larger in what they were providing than the ME2 DLCs - actual squadmate interactions, which involves bringing the cast back into the studio, and the locations were built to be bigger and more expansive than they were in ME2.

ME3 survives on DLCs. Play through the game with no DLCs besides FREE DLCs, and then play it again with all of the DLCs, it's just so different. I enjoy ME3 with all of the DLCs that's why I bought them all again for PC, because I have them all on PS3. Yes, the are pricey which sucks, but they need to make a profit somehow. I admit, Omega is a bit $5 dollars too much.

Yeah, the game sans DLC's feels way too incomplete. I have pretty much all the DLC's now and the game is immensely more satisfying.

Well, it's alright for ME3 imo: Arguably, Three of the DLC's have better storytelling and narrative than anything in the main game, and two of them are, IMO, better than anything in the main game.

ME1 DLC is pretty cheap last time I checked. Of course, there's only two DLC for it, and only one of those really qualifies as a true extension to the game.

ME2 had the DLC that was the most 'pure' in the sense of the word, with everything prior to LotSB not focused on furthering the main plot (since I think LotSB and Arrival were arguably necessary for the plot). All the stuff was almost purely side-stories or further adventures.

ME3 had the most plot-relevant DLC, with From Ashes, the Extended Cut, and Leviathan (being 60% of the story DLC) having a big impact on the game.

It does feel longer, but it still doesn't quite feel like a complete game if you ask me. Citadel adds about 6 hours to the game post Horizon, but after Rannoch, the game seems to condense and rush its way towards a stopping point. You can see where the writers and programmers started to run out of time.

See, you are still too kind.

The real problem is they are rarely on sale.

My goodness, I actually agree with you. Surprised me! You actually put into words a feeling I had about the post Rannoch arc. Maybe some more missions on Thessia would have filled things out.

Citadel is the only DLC that really felt worth the price.

I feel like the only DLC where I really got my money's worth was Omega actually. I don't use Javik that much, Leviathan suffers for being DLC so that the huge revelation can't change anything. And well, I hate Citadel with the burning heat of a thousand suns and want my money back.

What bothers me more is that you can buy packages in multiplayer for real money. I consider most of the DLCs to be worth their money, but to charge real money for MP? That's low.

Or rather, I'd be ok with even that, if it weren't for the fact that you get screwed up by random number generator and end up throwing three euros for some skins. Not that I ever give real money for MP, but it still leaves a bitter aftertaste in my mouth.

See, this is where we disagree. Omega was a fine DLC... if you're looking for more fight. And fighting was still great in it and I had a lot of fun with it.

However, having to endure Aria all the time and have no reactions from anybody when getting back to Normandy was just a tad too much for me. That they killed Nyreen as well also stung a little.

So, in short, was Omega worth it's money? Yes. Was it a good DLC? No. That is, of course, an opinion, not a fact.

Another one here who feels the same way. I try to shove as much of the game as possible to post-Rannoch (all DLCs except picking up Javik, and Omega because I've not got it, and as many side missions as I can).

The lame excuse Aria had for sticking around on the Citadel after finally getting back Omega was pretty bad, too.

I found Omega to be okay.  I think it gets an unfair rap here.  I just don't think it's $15 good.

Well, I got everything the same pace they were released and I have to say that I love the Citadel, Leviathan and the Ashes (Javik is hilarious). Omega is fine but nothing great; a slight disappointment for me personally (my opinion only). But definitely not bad, either. Some of them were pricey but I love this game and just had to get everything BW offered. The extended cut didn't make my game any better but thankfully there was an easy fix for that. :)
