Been wandering this for some time. Is divorce allowed in Thedas?Im not sure if that concept existed in the medieval ages and we know Thedas is in a way based on medieval Europe. Wouldn't it be awesome if some of our companions were married and then went through a divorce prior to joining the inquisition? Maybe when you try romance him/her in the end you get rejected because the possible LI's pain from divorcing his/her previous partner was to much ![]()

Not sure about a "official divorce" but it seems like casual seperation is tolerated, seeing as how the guards in Kirkwall pretty much defends Ninettes supposed authority in leaving Gyslain.

"Awesome" seems like a strong word. Divorce is honestly not that exciting a process.
"Inquisitor! I need your help filling out these forms to apply for visitation rights!"
"Inquisitor! I need you to babysit my daughter while I attend a blind date!"
"Inquisitor! I need you to hold me while I sob into a tub of Haagen-Dazs and whine about how I'll never love again!"

This seems silly. How is this device any different than a LI that is a widow/er or even just used to be in love. I don't feel bringing "divorce" into it would add anything.

A romance where you are basically the rebound? No, thanks, hahah

Eh, isn't romancing a freshly divorced character kinda a step back after romancing someone who just knifed his previous lover four and a half minutes ago? ![]()
Do something less drama-heavy with the idea. I.e. companion gets "Dear John"-letter, reads it with a slight frown, crumples it and tosses it into the campfire. If you ask what's wrong, the reply will be a surprised "No, why do you ask?". Nothing else comes of it.

Of course there's divorce. The murder knife makes one hell of a lawyer.

Think of it this way. We never had a widow type character before(atleast not that I know of), so we'd be getting something new this time ![]()

There are two LI's who are widows in the ME series. I wouldn't want to have that again, it felt a bit weird to romance them when most of their conversations were about how much they loved the ones they lost.

There is also Carth Onasi from Knight of the Old Republic. If anything Bioware has used the widow/er trope more than any other. It would be nice and refreshing if none of the romance options in DA:I had some kind of former love baggage to sift through.

The paraphrase for the Thane romance made it seem worse, *long speech on how he loves & misses his dead wife* femshep responds with "I want you Thane".

Right her aswell
. I guess the only way for a real divorce in Thedas is either the murder knife or your husband/wife getting tainted by darkspawn ![]()
