One thing you hope for for DAI companions

All these talks lately about DA2 reminded me about one thing I really loved there - companion's entrances. Each of them were unique, memorable and so impressive you just loved (or hated may be) every future companions from the first second you saw them. For example as much as I dislike Sebastian (and, god, I do!) - his appearance on the screen was so moving (if a bit theatrical) I just could not help but enjoy the scene (and still do when I re-play DA2). Or can you name anything more impressive then Varric's entrance?

In DAO (although that was, is and, I suspect, will be my favorite game) that particular part was less cinematic and less dramatic. Better fitted the game style, sure, but in DA2 that particular thing impressed me the most.

So one of my biggest hope for DAI companions is that they will leave that part intact. Would be really something to look forward for for me.

I hope the missing rogue is a Female Qunari who used to be an assassin for the Ben-Hassrath, yes we already have a qunari (Iron Bull) but i dont think he'll share much knowledge about the Qun that we dont already know. I want a female Sten, and if she's part of the Ariqun, she'll be able to share knowledge of Qun that Sten wouldnt have known. I can onyl hope at this point

Edit: And also a "pub" where unique conversations and companion scenes occur. Im still hoping for a Hangover scenario easter egg where everyone wakes up with scratches and bruises, having no clue what happened and the only person who witnessed the carnage was Sandal, but when you ask him, he of course replies with "enchantment"

But I agree about the cinematic introductions to our companions - by and large, they were well done. I'm also hoping they'll continue with that in DAI.

Well, Fenris' entrance certainly left an impact on me. Watching a man magically fist another man is not something easily forgotten. My hope for companions, while I'm sure I'll love (or love to hate) all of them, is to be able to kill them. Or at least some of them. I've found that I've started to take on the persona of a mistrustful, unforgiving hard*ss in games lately, and I'd love to just be able to behead anyone who steps out of line.

I just hope they keep the sense of activity and life that companions had in Dragon Age 2. Other than standing around in a camp all day, these people actually did stuff and lived lives in Kirkwall. The game actually gave me a reason to not feel guilty about neglecting to bring Aveline with me on quests, as she was a guard-captain, with a very large responsibility.

I know it'll be harder to accomplish now we're returning to the "travel far and wide"-format, but that is all I wish for.

Either way is fine. Really depends on the character, for the entrances at least.

What I want is the ability to talk to a companion whenever I want, like DAO, not whenever I "can" like DA2. I loved talking to Leliana about the locations and the random things people would say when you talk to them during missions were enjoyable.

I'm hoping for this, too. I noticed they started doing it more and more from ME2 forward, and even with DA2 being rushed it still had some excellent companion introductions (I've played the escape from Lothering about 50 times and I can never skip through Aveline punching a darkspawn to death  ). If Hawke's misfits warrant such treatment, I can only imagine what they might pull out for the bigwigs the Inquisitor rounds up.

With a return to a home-base style hub, I hope we see companions interacting with each other while at the hub. I also hope we see them interacting while at camp (if there is a camp). Akin to what Mass Effect 3 did.

I hope they have strong bonds with each other rather than it be more like the party is a web of characters individually bonded to the inquisitor.

Example I can think of is Steiner, the princess and Vivi in FFIX.

I'd also like to see companions with interests/hobbies outside of learning the most efficient way to dismember or stir-fry opponents.

We saw a little of that in DA2, with the gambling nights and some of the personal quests (like Merrill's)...

I would really like for my companions to interact like the ones of ME3. I want it to feel like we're an actual team who can talk to each other rather than a bunch of people following my PC. xD

I definitely want to hear about them having strong connections with each other and interacting even when the Inquisitor isn't present. Also, lots of talking about the Inquisitor to each other because that's always fun!

I also want to get a sense that they are reacting to the world around them. I mean, everything is REALLY going to hell in a handbasket at this point and I hope to feel the full weight of that, including listening to or being told the companions' reactions to certain events.

And yes, cinematic entrances are always fun. I wonder if they'll somehow try to top Varric's DA2 entrance with his first appearance in DAI!

I agree with what others have stated: Cinematic entrances that make an impression (for better or worse); Interactivity between the companions themselves, apart from their interaction with my PC; A definite sense of their own objectives and goals outside of whatever it is they do for the Inquisitor....

I'm also excited about the idea that these companions are all powerful individuals in their own right. Not just for their combat prowess and/or knowledge base/assorted skills that make them useful to the PC directly, but with their own pull and control in their own organizations/circles. I hope we get a really good sense of the companions as equals -- more companions/allies/advisors (whether their relationship with the Inquisitor is friendly or not) as opposed to "followers" with little identity outside of their revolutions within the PCs orbit.
