Thus why I will, game willing, tear the entire foundation down and help set up a better order that serves the same Pros without the Cons.

Out of curiosity, where do you look to history and see that as a success? Even the American/western occupation of western Germany and Japan kept significant elements of the foundation intact.

Most of Spain's control of south america during their imperial day but that was done by force and was a bloodly massacre on purpose and by mistake.

That's the first time I've ever heard Spain's destruction of the latin american cultures and subsequent brutal imperialism raised as a success story.

By contrast, the revolutions against Spain kept various policies, practices, and cultural foundations in place even as others were changed. I'd argue they were far better for it, even if it did end up keeping various already established interest groups and cultural aspects (including much racism) in place for some time.

Success is based on perspective. Is it successful because it benefited the people of the state or is it successful because control was help for decades?

True, it was a bloody mess but the spanish empire held for years. It only fell apart because the core government did ridiculous mistake. The fact is the vast majority of the original culture for south america is gone because of it. Most of the south american cultures we see now developed after spain made their empire.

No matter how big or small you're nation is different parts of the nation will develop a variation of their own culture one way or another.

The point is that most SA cultures are new from the time the place was taken over. To even see the original culture they had to did it up or go to the museum.

I'm not tearing a nation down, just an order of knights in that example. Knight orders have been completely removed and replaced several times in history.

He does look a little pained, and if the expression on the face of the other guy is anything to go by. Probably.

Uncle Iroh for DA4!

Too bad his VA Mako passed away midway through Season 2, but the replacement guy was still really good.

I like Gaspard more than I do Celene. That's not to say that I don't appreciate what Celene was trying to do. Trying to get elves accepted into the Orlesian university and being a patron for the arts, trying to usher in an era of enlightenment in an age predicted to be a time of great change and upheaval...I'm glad Orlais had a ruler like Celene. But Gaspard is a military man with a military mind and Thedas is on the brink of three crises by my count. I think he was kind of spot on about Celene only wanting to help the elves because she had Briala influencing her, despite what she said to the contrary. I don't really think he's that racist. He had the chance to be a total ****** to Briala and he was soft enough on her that she had an opportunity to escape. He didn't care about Michel being elf-blooded. In many ways, he holds to the traditions and teachings of the Chevaliers while being very nontraditional with how he views others compared to a typical Orlesian noble. I hope his fighting days aren't REALLY over despite the wound Michel gave him. Maybe he'll get his hands on one of our magical injury kits.

And for what it's worth, I like the Chevalier order a lot, pros cons and all. They're a lot more interesting than the typical knights in shining armor of fantasy and I hope that they're one part of the status quo that's kept totally intact.

How would you kill someone who's method of murder was death by irony?
