What does "more Skyrim like" entail?

I imagine it's more open world, more free choices, the ability to advance the plot at our own pace and do a bunch of side quests and faction quests on our own time as well.

That and assassinate the emperor as a member of the Dark Brotherhood.

Oh dear god, yes to all of this. I agree with all of this. I am very on the fence. I will be lurking and reading every detail I can on this game.

No to mages after last round unless they get more skyrim like and I can be a mix of dual blades with some magic.

The story and ending will carry a lot of weight with me. As will being able to enable console. If the story gets bad reviews, I'm out. If I hear it's buggy, I'm out. If the romances are crap, I'm out. Those are deal breaker for me.

Prettier elves would be nice. Make them taller too. Dear god! If it's heavy on templar/mage stuff, I'm going to be really leaning toward out. I've had enough of that from DA2. Really. It was done so badly that nothing can make me want to revisit that mess.

And even forcing me to be a straight out mage or warrior kind of is a turn off. I'd like to have some magic and be a dual wielding rogue at the same time. Why can't I be? I could in skyrim!  I want to be a dual wielding apostate!!!!

Well a born human could never be a mage but a born mage could be a warrior or rogue. After all a mage can learn anything a mundane can except what it's like not to have magic. I can't help but imagine a mage sining, "I can do anything you can do better then you." Unlike the back and forth in the song though the mage would mean it.

The Imperium might even have some mages that know how to combine magic and melee skills. I'm actually hoping that the Qunari mage will have a specialty that lets them go melee. I don't know what was going on but I remember in DA2 the Qunari mage engulfs himself in some kind of fire barrier while fighting. Given how he knocked the bandit flat he seems to have some striking power to.

I don't share your view on the mage/templar conflict but I am not quite ready to say I won't side with this side or that side. It depends on what they're doing and how they've been behaving sense breaking their chains.

I may, but I hated playing a Dwarf in DA:O. Like.. detested it. I only played through the two origins to get the achievements.

Dwarven Noble is the single best origin out there.

In my humble opinion, which means it's 100% true, right.  ;)

You should give it a shot anyway.

Dwarves are awesome. Ordering a man's death, getting a man to faint for being in your presence, challenging a man to a duel for trying to manipulate you, and that's just the Noble. There's also defeating all of the contenders in the Provings as a casteless, and cutting through the carta because you're a BAMF.

I will probably not:

  • Play as a blood mage
  • Play as an elf or dwarf
  • Romance anyone
  • Be evil

I will hopefully not:

  • Kill any companions (Why'd you break my streak, Anders?!)

I'm not going to play a Rogue, because I prefer stabbing people in the front.

1) No playing as a female

2) Not be forever alone (no male romance)

3)No killing innocents and good animals

4)No skipping cutscenes,dialogues,etc.

5) No rushing the game to get to the end.

6) Not removing my helmet.

You don't necessary have to kill him, rivalry with him will allow you to spare him.

But killing him as a rival is actually a kindness, isn't it? (To both him and Sebastian)

I thought that went without saying!

I don't think I will do the following-

-Wont play as a dwarf: it's this thing with fantasy for me. Dwarves are my least favorite things in the western fantasies and bore me to death. DA never changed that opinion for me. Varric doesn't count in that loathing because he's Varric the badass, not Varric the dwarf.

-Wont play as a human male: I don't like their anatomy in DA games, their shoulders are way to broad for me while their hips are really tiny, making this triangle shape. Putting those in a mage outfit as well drives me up a wall with how silly it looks to me.

-Wont romance anyone: this is subject to change, but I want to have a character that is more focused on the issues in front of them, not worry about if their bed will have an extra body in it tonight. That and I don't really find myself interested in any of the characters on a romancable level. Again subject to change if it makes sense.

-Wont hunt anything into near extinction: Nuhhh I want my fuzzy critters around everywhere. If anything I will wait and see if things can over populate so I can just be flooded with nugs.

-Wont wear armor that is my class: ...I want to be a mage in thief gear or a thief pretending to be a warrior. And if I play a warrior I wanna run around in mage dresses to confuse people into thinking I'm a glass canon and not a hunk of badass that can deflect arrows with might. Bonuses be damned.

What does "more Skyrim like" entail?

In skyrim I could choose to have a variety of skills. In DAO I couldn't even really carry a weapon as a mage because I had to keep sheathing it. That was ridiculous. I want to be able to dual wield as a mage! I want to have fun with mixing skills and talents. Mages shouldn't be locked into magic only. No mage in their right mind would really want to walk about with a staff in robes given the environment most especially. They would, if they are smart, use magic from their hands, since they can or at least they could in DAO and then carry weapons that would allow them to use both the weapon and the magic. I skyrim, I could use dual daggers and switch off to magic and be invisible. I could run my character many ways. Here I am locked into a specific set. Now for a tank or rogue that kind of makes sense unless you are an apostate in which case you might be a rogue who hides their magic but sometimes uses it in a jam. That's what I mean by skyrim like. Builds that are more versatile rather than boxed for you ready to go.

I agree on all of these. Nothing about dwarves appealed to me though varric was cool. But playing as a dwarf? Nope!

Why are mages wearing robes when it's pretty much brands them. Staffs too! Hello... can be be less obvious?

Romances by DA2 were terrible and not even worth it. None of them even were enticing to me. I tried and got bored so I absolutely agree on this unless they make them as involved and interesting as they were in DAO.

Battlemage?

Battlemage wasn't really a good design though. Arcane warrior less so. I want to wear light armor not ugly ass robes. I want to dual wield with daggers and be more like a rogue with stealth then use some magic as the situation needs. All or none really doesn't work after skyrim. It's a brave new world out there. Box builds aren't cutting it anymore. People come up with much more creative and fun builds on their own than devs could ever.

Those would be nice but I'm actually focused on the builds. They were really limiting. I liked that I could design my build. That was the funnest part of skyrim.

I heard that the player can wear armor in Inquisition (even if the protagonist is a mage), although it might hinder dexterity.

i will not

- play as a warrior

- "romance" any NPC

- roll healing spec

- metagame (i always do that, especially with ambiguous dialogue wheels, but i'll try not to)

- play on casual/normal diff

- "side" with anybody

Yeah, I kind of wanted to back peddle out of that one at some point but really only followed it through out of curiosity. Then I did it to be a rebellious apostate who was glad he destroyed the chantry.

Light armor should be cool. The downside is that it will likely be butt ugly. Best looking armor I had was either heavy armor or mods in DA2. Light armor and robes looked like they were designed by blind people.

You would think they would put a little more effort into the armor you are wearing. People like to LOOK GOOD.
