Would this be considered rude?

I had a pug last night which was not going to well, the set-up I was trying just wasnt working. I was doing ok, but I could tell I was not going to be able to clutch waves 8-10. I had an idea for a striker destroyer build focusing on TB's with disrupter ammo and frags, but this did not work as I had planned.

Anyway everyone was spectating while I was trying my best to save the game, but I got in a similar situation as Jeremiah the other day where I was in a reaper-gang-bang, and burned through all my gels. I finally got downed again, and while the timer was counting down, I quit.

Is it rude to drop as the host so the wave restarts for the other players and they get a second chance?

Nope. But mostly likely they will fail as well. So no point really.

Actually a noble sacrifice.

Assuming the rest of the team doesn't lose all money and crash out because it can't find a suitable host. Lulz.

What are these "pug consumables"?

Can you eat them?

I wanted no part or reminders of that game. Not even the 30K+ credits. I will never use that set up ever again.

If you are the host it is more helpful to them than dying and losing the match.

I don't think anyone can be blamed for not clutching and saving everyone. PUGs have to learn to deal with failure!

Nope. You actually did them a favour. I do that all the time without being host when they start bleeding out every wave. I'm not running a charity.

Ironic given your community service in pug lobbies.  :)

I dont mind carrying when I have too. Hell, I sometimes don't mind. We all like to kill all the things anyway right? I totally get your point though b00g13, time is money.

That's actually "takin one for the team" - you don't get any credits at all and the rest of the team can try the wave once more (with refilled consumables?) and gets at least some credits for what wave they are at this moment.

Someone did that in a game I was in the other day, at first I was a tad upset just because he had taken a long long time clutching as a jugger.  Then I gave my head a shake and was thankful he left as host giving the rest of us a chance to finish which we did.

No reason to waste my time. Usually when the team bleeds out "every" wave I just go and hug a Banshee/Phantom. Soloing 3 waves is enough for a team game.

Carrying is totally dependent upon my mood and enjoyment of the game. If I'm playing with someone I genuinely enjoy conversation with I will try to carry on no matter the consequences. If I'm playing with someone that is annoying or stupid I don't care if I have the best kit in the game with the most powerful equipment, it's start down two times and peace out mofos.

I tried using the Striker Destroyer you were talking about and that Crash guy publicly shamed me.

How did you do with it? The game is 2+ years, I will give anything a shot. I think I need to redo the build and slap an AM3 on it before throwing it completely out the airlock.

I definitely wouldn't say so. They probably thought you rage-quit, but since it works out for them either way (they either succeed or nothing was lost except another minute or two of the wave) no harm done.

Well even if they crash they'll get to keep their consumables so its not all bad.

I did actually test that, for both equipment and consumables.

It turns out you don't actually get back anything that you've already used from your manifest, but you do get to refill your available consumables and equipment, as long as you have enough to replace them.

So if you had 6 medigel, 8 rockets, and 12 thermals and ops before the game, and you had 2 Warp ammo I, one of them equipped, and 1 Power Amp 1 which was equipped, and you used all 6 of all your consumables before the host migration, here's what would happen after the migration:

You'd have 0 medigel, 2 rockets, 6 thermal clips and 6 ops packs. You'd have Warp Ammo I equipped, but that's it (you wouldn't come back with Power Amp I equipped.)

When you finished the game, your consumable totals will have decreased by the total equipment/consumables used both before and after the host migration, so you would't have a Warp Ammo I left, because one was used before the migration, and the other was subtracted from your manifest during the migration, to refill your equipment slot.

I haven't tested it in many months, but it was after support stopped, so I'm pretty sure that's still how it works. In practical terms, it doesn't change much, unless you're like me, and perpetually low on Ops Packs. When I come back after a Host Migration, I often have less than 6 Ops Packs (I typically start most of my games with 6-10 of them, and will often use most of them, so that's why I noticed something was up, because they were the one consumable that wouldn't "refill" during a host migration.)

I would honestly prefer you bleed out and end the game, rather than force a Host Migration.

Words cannot describe how much I despise Host Migration.

The only time I think that is acceptable (noble, even) is on a bugged escort.
