First off: Striker Destroyer, huh? Reported. lance zucchini pls

As for leaving, I think it's a nice gesture, but I also see it as a measure of self-preservation. The longer you stay with a group you can't finish a gold game with, the more rage builds up inside you. Ask me how I know. You did the right thing, for you and for them.

You did them a favor at the expense of whatever XP and Credits you'd already earned. If they can't see that then screw 'em. If you thought it was worth it you could even rejoin off of one of your team mates.

I think everyone who plays multiplayer games has encountered "rage"-quitting. At times in very bad matches I decide it's not worth it putting more effort into it and just search for another lobby (or press alt-f4 altogether) with the consequence of simply letting me bleed out.

If I get troubled by people quitting I remember the times I did it and smile. Not because of the misery of the other person, but because I know how things can tick you off.

Anyway, my muscle memory almost always tells me to press exit when I see the host migration going on.

The general tone of replies - that it's ok to quit out when you feel like it - is at general odds with the social norms relating to multiplayer games.

Would you quit out of a tennis doubles game at will? A chess game?

The unspoken contract is that once everyone has pressed the ready-up button, they are in for the duration of the game. And this is the case in all other games. The fact that ME3 multiplayer can be rationalised as an exception by appealing to credit arguments does not make the case a good one.

I mean we're talking about a video game where you kill things, are you sure we want to apply real world ethics here?

They were all in spectator mode already, so I honestly did it to give them a second chance. I figured my sacrifice would be honored in the coming empire.

Striker Destroyer is actually kinda ok, at least for Cerberus and Geth.

I had a pug last night which was not going to well, the set-up I was trying just wasnt working. I was doing ok, but I could tell I was not going to be able to clutch waves 8-10. I had an idea for a striker destroyer build focusing on TB's with disrupter ammo and frags, but this did not work as I had planned.

Anyway everyone was spectating while I was trying my best to save the game, but I got in a similar situation as Jeremiah the other day where I was in a reaper-gang-bang, and burned through all my gels. I finally got downed again, and while the timer was counting down, I quit.

Is it rude to drop as the host so the wave restarts for the other players and they get a second chance?

I think it's a nice self-less gesture but not everyone might appreciate it possibly. If you're worried it may seem to be rude or poor sportsmanship, then try quitting next time in the middle of a sprint or the like--to make it seem like it was your connection.

I wouldn't mind, honestly. Would slightly prefer you to bleed out, but I wouldn't mind. I can always quit if I'm annoyed...

The only time I think that is acceptable (noble, even) is on a bugged escort.

So 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune?

OP, you gave them another chance .. they should be grateful .. although the fact you were clutching so many rounds makes it a virtual certainty the rest of your team would fail. But hey, they wanted to play Gold without being ready for it .. and lemmings walk off cliffs .. not much to be done about that.

I almost never quit out of a game. It's pretty common to have 1 or 2 other players who won't use gels / rockets / ops, but rare it's all 3. As long as there is 1 other person trying and using consumables, i have to stay for their benefit. When all 3 players prove to be leeches, then I can leave.

Although if i'm using a powerful set up, and things are going smoothly, then sometimes I don't even bother leaving when all 3 are not helping.

Carrying is totally dependent upon my mood and enjoyment of the game. If I'm playing with someone I genuinely enjoy conversation with I will try to carry on no matter the consequences. If I'm playing with someone that is annoying or stupid I don't care if I have the best kit in the game with the most powerful equipment, it's start down two times and peace out mofos.

The operative word being "game", and the OP was asking whether their actions in quitting were rude. And yes, they were. As rude as resigning a chess game by tipping up the board.

Also, host migration. Anyone who inflicts that on anyone else should get a cobra missile where the sun don't shine.

Well the intent was an attempt at giving them a do over...no one else was left alive and was wave 9...My hope was that they would get to regear. I know pugs who used this tactic in plat. Thanks for the feedback

 Well, no.

I'd say it's more like someone quitting a game of 4 on 4 basketball, where anyone in the crowd could potentially join in to take their place...

...Except that you own the court, and your leaving forces everyone else to leave to go to some other court that may or may not be the same court as the rest of the team, or just forces some players to go home...

Okay this metaphor is breaking down.

Exactly this, but only if you say something entirely different.

Basically, the answer to your question is like this post but spoken from the perspective of the AI enemies in the game, only rather than them having computer-programmed algorithms replacing thought, they generate their expressed emotions based on the colors displayed on the screen the moment before the disconnect, which means they very depending one who they are speaking to because everyone's screen is different.

Rudeness is circumstantial and in this case meh, besides how would they know your connection didn't drop?

I did actually test that, for both equipment and consumables.

It turns out you don't actually get back anything that you've already used from your manifest, but you do get to refill your available consumables and equipment, as long as you have enough to replace them.

So if you had 6 medigel, 8 rockets, and 12 thermals and ops before the game, and you had 2 Warp ammo I, one of them equipped, and 1 Power Amp 1 which was equipped, and you used all 6 of all your consumables before the host migration, here's what would happen after the migration:

You'd have 0 medigel, 2 rockets, 6 thermal clips and 6 ops packs. You'd have Warp Ammo I equipped, but that's it (you wouldn't come back with Power Amp I equipped.)

I think U loose the warp ammo sign on your weapon, but not the effect, or is it lag ?
