Cato vs. Cain is only a preview of what the entire forums will become after this change goes into effect.
Exactly.
Stuff like this isn't going to stop, it'll just go to the only place left - the main forum

I think the writing is on the wall, but a lot of people are refusing to read it. They can't control the social aspect of the site anymore. The most popular forum on here is the off-topic forum. A lot of the groups are off topic groups. Why would a gaming company want a site dedicated to things that aren't about their games. I remember when Preistly said that he was all for the closing of the off-topic section because the community used to be the most well-behaved community on the internet. This was back when threads couldn't move past a certain amount of pages. This is when there wasn't a status feed, and this is when there wasn't a place to go discuss non-Bioware things. I'm guessing there was a lot less traffic back then because the only thing there was to talk about was Bioware games, and there is only so many things about Bioware games you can discuss. A smaller community that is completely dedicated to the games being discussed is MUCH easier to control. The forums in their social era caused many people to form friendships. It brought many, many people close together. However, as a forum designed to promote and discuss video games, that is irrelevant. These friends packing up and leaving to another site would actually help Bioware and EA out a lot. Then there wouldn't be friendly off-topic banter weighing down actual game discussion. There wouldn't be personal quarrels weighing down actual game discussion. All there would be is actual game discussion. Even if they lose a grip of good and helpful members, they will lose all of the members whose personal stake in this site goes beyond Bioware games. That's why it would not surprise me if the Lobby eventually got closed down.
What the BSN did for some people is great, but this isn't the BSN anymore. This is a game forum dedicated to Bioware, and as such, it should be focused completely on Bioware games. If you leave, then the community "organizers" won't miss you. People who aren't focused completely on the games here are "acceptable losses." I know I'm sounding melodramatic here, but it's not that big of a deal. Forums come and go. Users come and go. That's just the way of the internet. Maybe connecting with each other over something like Facebook will help the people who are friends here grow closer. You never know. This is a change to a site that many of us love. We don't like the things that we love being changed, but everything changes. The best thing to do is accept this new change and chill here or move on and chill somewhere else.
That's the way I'm seeing all of this.

Yeah, the bickering really doesn't help the cause out (as pointless as it may be to try to fight against it). Had the groups not had to worry about deletion, all this drama could have been avoided and people could have continued to enjoy their time on this site rather than getting egged on by people. Every time I even view the Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer section (the only one I ever cared to visit), I grow less and less interested in being here. I don't care for arguing/bickering as I find it rather childish, though at times I admit I have done it myself. Being able to go to a group and just chill out to avoid the negativity was pretty much the only thing keeping me here and continue communicating with friends and people I may have one day tried to game with, but will now likely never have the chance to.
Certain people are also very good at pushing buttons (as seen in here) and said people previously talked about this (with enjoyment) with profile comments, now they likely do it through PMs. So if you really want to rid yourself of this "toxic community" BioWare, you need to start invading PMs (or disable them since they are social) and make everything be out in the open. Have fun with the insane asylum this next week, I am not sure I can last that long as I have no real reason to be here anymore.

Are you on the same BF forums I am? The titles with F-Bombs in them on the front page sometimes outnumber the ones without.
LOL. I need to see this.

Color me shocked that jess hasn't considered it worth her time to respond to any of us.
These mods probably mutually agreed to not engage anyone. This thread was only to be used as a means for BSNrs to vent.

Invade PM's? They are limiting the social aspect of this forum enough already. An invasion of the little privacy that we have goes against a websites code of ethics. This will result in a massive outcry of BSNrs that will spread all over the internet. People will make videos and articles about it. IGN, Machinima and other big game networks will jump on this news with the quickness. This forums reputation will be completely destroyed and labled as untrustworthy. U have to think outside the walls of BSN here. Very bad ideaYeah, the bickering really doesn't help the cause out (as pointless as it may be to try to fight against it). When dragon age and especially the new ME comes out, I won't be having time or energy for this nonsense. I'll be too busy making tons of helpful videos like I use to. Pushing buttons while simultaneously creating good content is very counterproductive.Cato vs. Cain is only a preview of what the entire forums will become after this change goes into effect.
There will be a plethora of new people that'll come onboard here. My trolling will only be a distant fading memory in the current lingering minority........

Sigh... Meanwhile, Bioware and EA employees are reading all these random arguments laughing their asses off...
Then again, the fact that I can say fuck and bitch and not get banned might mean no-one at BiowEAr is reading this... ![]()
Either way, it's gonna suck around here after the groups close. Before you know it, they'll probably get rid of the whole "friend" and PM service...

That went right over your head (not a shock)... try using more head knowledge™ next time and really think about things before posting.
To think I would actually be serious about that is just plain silly, especially when I am one of the people frustrated about the deletion of "off-topic" groups. It was what is known as "satire" and I used it because I feel that is basically the route they are going (though my PM thing is obviously an extreme and not likely). Of course, that seemed to get you up in arms...hmmm, I wonder why...
Certain people are also very good at pushing buttons (as seen in here) and said people previously talked about this (with enjoyment) with profile comments, now they likely do it through PMs.
To be honest Cain, I never had a problem with you aside from how you behave on here lately. I don't think it is a good look to troll people, egg people on, etc. and then go on to say you will be back to making helpful videos. Your behavior (not just you, but hopefully you get the point) in all honesty is a big reason I like to hang out in the off topic group. I don't care for the drama and I don't care for the hypocrites on either side of it. I wouldn't have a big problem with the deletion of said groups if moderators would crack down more on that behavior and give harsher punishments for repeat offenders such as yourself.
I actually thought you were a pretty decent person from Xbox chats and such, but I also feel that how a person behaves when there is less accountability is who they truly are. A few slip ups here and there just make you human, but you go out of your way to start stuff and that tells me more about you than party chats do. I hope that if I do return to BWF for ME4 that you have a much better attitude about the forums, but if the drama between you and cato is any preview of the future I won't get those hopes up too high. That type of stuff is FAR MORE toxic to BioWare and the community than anything the majority of these off topic groups are doing.
Anyways, I have said what I have to say and this is my last day or two around here. I hope you realize that I wasn't solely coming at you Caine, but you have also given me plenty of examples to bring up and you are in this thread. There is 2-3x as much of this crap in the ME3 Multiplayer Forums and seeing as that was the only game I have ever had interest in of BioWare's, where else did I have to turn to enjoy this site aside from a group? Hopefully someone at BioWare will see this and reconsider things, but unlikely. Peace out people.

To be fair... Bioware doesn't have a "small" community, like a few years back, even then it wasn't small. They brought a MP aspect to one of their games and what do you expect? That to not have an influence? Their games influence who they bring to into their "cultured community" and the community in itself, has always had a toxic element to it, it's just now - more people, a more likely hood of gaining even more "toxic" influence and the bigger you get, the louder it becomes as well, as it is showing here.
Also, if it's just dedicated to their products (which is fine mind you), they should flat out delete the off topic section immediately, fair is fair.
