If only we had groups, we wouldn't get threads filled with this.

Personally, I agree with Jessica's changes.
Those community members who were around in the days of the original BioBoards will likely note that this action is no different from those days on those early forums where the groups were called Guilds. There was a low tolerance for off topic Guilds even back then.
I have always held the belief that Guilds (Groups, whatever) should abide by the same rules and intent of the discussion forums.
The forums, and all the privileges granted to Community Members, are the property of our host: BioWare. As community members all of us are granted certain privileges to use these for the discussion of their game products based on whatever games we have purchased and by agreeing to the posted site rules and intended purpose of the Forums and Groups we are permitted to participate in.
IMHO, there are enough generalized social sites available on the Web where off-topic discussions can be held amongst like-minded people. Here, the social discussions should limited to BioWare games and off-topic discussions limited to the Off-Topic forums already provided for our use here or on any the the numerous social sites on the Web.
Okay... I lied. I am back again.
If you feel groups should follow the same intent and discussion as other parts of the forum, then the off-topic section needs to be deleted as well as having that section just completely contradicts the point you tried to make. The difference is that those of us in groups are there to enjoy ourselves and avoid drama that at least I personally don't feel the moderation staff handles well enough. In the groups, I don't have to worry about someone flipping out and taking something the wrong way, I don't have anyone belittling me for having a different opinion, etc. I don't understand why that is something that seems to be a bad thing to the BioWare staff, we still have the occasional discussion about BioWare games even (but the majority of things are off topic).
Maybe if it was clarified a bit better some of these responses would be different. As it stands, a lot of us are "killing time" until the next BioWare game that we will get and want to avoid having problems. To me, this drives away members who have been fairly loyal to the BioWare brand and I feel it is a huge mistake to go this route. As I said, I understand the need for rules, but it is a huge double standard to have an off-topic section at all if groups are not allowed to be either.
The difference between generalized social sites and this one is that we were ALL brought together by a BioWare game. That is what we had in common to get the ground moving on making new friendships/acquaintances. I for one will be leaving the site within the next couple of days after seeing where this ultimately ends (which will likely be the outcome I am not looking forward to). I can't say I will be gone for good, but this has left a very sour taste in my mouth about how BioWare feels about their customers/community and has definitely prevented me from even looking into the Dragon Age series as a purchase as the brand loyalty is no longer there for me.
I know you are just a moderator and probably don't have a major say in the matter either way, but I am interested in reading any responses from BioWare staff or Moderators even on their opinions as to why this is a good idea.
Edit: Also, thank you for at least braving a response. As you can probably tell, a lot of people are not thrilled by this decision and I am sure some people will not be very polite if they disagree with your point of view. Hopefully more mods and staff will chime in soon and things will calm down a bit.

And i never said you liked people's comments to signify agreeing. I just said you simply liked them and i said you quoted people saying that you agree with them (quoted them in agreement) and those people had similar points to Cain. I wont state any names but you can start at page 15,
You're saying DragonRacer's post is similar to Caine's? Hahahahaa...that's funny. Have a like.

I doubt that any will be making an appearance. What could they say? The decision has been made, I doubt no matter what we as the community say, they are going to change their mind. The mods on the site might not even be the ones who made the decision, though they should have some insight into what was the reasoning behind it.

Limbs..
If you sum up all of my posts minus the troll ones, you would see that DR had similar points to mines which is why I agreed with her and gave her a like. You agreed with her too. QA's point was to show was to show how a double standard and hypocritical behavior manifests itself through you. Your behavior has proven my point about hypocrisy plauguing many BSN'rs to be true.
You'll probably just laugh and brush it off with your forum persona playing it cool as always

Are you mad at my ability to play it cool, Cain? Really?
The difference between DragonRacer's post and your post is that your post is cushioned by trolling (that you just admitted to doing.) That's why she has my respect and why I openly agreed with her. Make your point without being a troll if you don't want to be seen that way. Because right now, to me? You're always going to be a troll and I'm not going to be able to take anything you say seriously.

No

When I said "minus the trolling ones" I meant "Minus the trolling ones". There's been many posts that were sensible and many agreed with likes or with similar points. Those are the comments I'm talking about. They are all over this thread. Even ST said I made a lot of sense throughout this thread. The only "trolling" I did was with cato. Everything else was pretty logical and backed up by others..
That's why she has my respect and why I openly agreed with her
No. You just like her. It's a favoritizm thing. I'm sure you understand.

I have been. Reading comprehension is an important skill ya know.
Because right now, to me? You're always going to be a troll and I'm not going to be able to take anything you say seriously.
You sound like an angry child. Settle down now. Even with logical opinions presented to you, you still refuse to acknowledge what others have. Yer just being arrogant.

I'm surprised her or Allan haven't replied to anything yet.
It's Easter weekend. I know not everyone celebrates the holiday (obviously), but it's still one where folks usually get some time off work and/or spend the weekend with family. In North America, at least, seems to be the tradition. That's why her releasing this info on Thursday afternoon was a classic PR move in my mind - release bad news and then disappear for the long weekend and let those who received the news wear themselves out frothing at the mouth all weekend. This thread clearly shows the logic behind the timing.
they had similar points and ideas. She basically said it's biowares forum they can do whatever they want. She, like cain, are not completely against it and not completely for it but she understands both sides.
I feel the need to point out and clarify that I did NOT say that I was not completely against it. I actually am. I do not like this change and I find it disappointing. But I understand why BioWare is doing it (even if I don't agree with it) and I recognize it's their right to do so (even if I don't like it).
The difference for me, however, is that I already recognize fighting it as a lost cause and, so, am moving forward with an alternative rather than rail at the city gates, so to speak.

Which color did you pick?
In regards to this thread, the replies, and Cain's rep:

To the people attacking each other:
SHUT THE **** UP! Watching adults that are at least 10 years older than me act like this is ****** annoying. We have different opinions and will most likely not change it over what is a modified text message. Learn to respect others' opinions when you obviously will not be able to change them.
Petty attacks will solve nothing. I'll admit, this post will solve nothing. But stop to think that a 17 year old teenager thinks you're acting ****** childish.
