and this argument is boring me.

Lol, ok, haven't seen it as I'm not the biggest comic book fan outside of the Bat or the occasional unique comic-book inspired movie, that confronts and puts the conventional aspects of Superheroes into perspective. Otherwise I tend not get too much into them as they usually would require for me have background knowledge, so I don't ask 'who the hell are all these characters?'.

 

Anyway -- What I'm really hoping now is that Marc Webb goes back to directing his own stuff again like Nolan. 500 Days was great and his only barely gotten his career as a director started.

In all fairness I have not seen that many Amazing Spider-Man 2 reviews so far but what little I have seen seem to suggest that surfers from the same thing that ruined Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, too many villains, the film spreads it self too thin.

Quantity is never a good substitute got quality.

This is also true but I still think that by focusing on too many villains it meant that the over all writing and character development for all individuals involved was compromised.

Shame on you. Get off your butt and go to the cinema right now and buy a ticket for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Really? I thought Iron Man 3 was good it did not exactly blow my mind, it was simply more of the same old same old from Robert Downey Jr and co, it was an extension of of what we saw in Iron Man 1 and 2 but it did not really do anything to take the franchise to the next level. With Captain America: Winter Soldier there is a noticeable shift in scale and focus in the franchise from its predecessor, I walked out of Cap 2 thinking I saw a game changer, something that would forever redefine how I would evaluate all other Super hero movies.

Yes Winter Solider was better than the first Avenger but I thought it was still just ok. On a side thought man it must have sucked watching Agents of Shield if you hadn't already see Winter Solider.

I didn't like TASM2 very much.  Wasn't that big a fan of the first TASM, but I thought it was decent. This one... I don't know.  I didn't care for either of the villains, and the whole movie just felt too long and unfocused. There were a few pretty strong moments and performances, but also quite a few things that made me cringe. On the plus side the Spidey costume was pretty good, as were the visuals and the action scenes. Also Emma Stone! So, TASM2 isn't a bad movie. If you're looking for some lighter entertainment with some nice action that's what you'll get (well, for the most part  ).

 

Maybe opening rather close to The Winter Soldier didn't help it much when it comes to gaining my personal appreciation. To me going from "To build a better world sometimes means tearing the old one down." to "It's my birthday - time to light the candles!"... yeah, no. Though I have to say that I do believe a mix of lightheartedness, seriousness and (a maybe sometimes sort of cheesy) humor can work well in a (superhero) movie. It's actually something I'm looking forward to in Guardians of the Galaxy, but that's because I have faith Gunn will be able to make that mix work. Marc Webb imo couldn't.  

 

Anyways, the trailers and reviews for TASM3 and the Sinister Six spin-off will need to be damn impressive to get me in the cinema for either one of them.

I was pleasantly surprised by Amazing Spider-man 2. I went into it expecting a train wreck and I was surprised at how good it was ( good, not great, it's a 3 star film but then again most super hero films are 3 star films ). 

 

I enjoyed the first film more but ASM2 isn't all that far behind. I really got a kick out of how Marc Webb took a D list villain like Electro and turned him into a proper threat to Spider-man ( even if his back story and character development is very weak ). I also really enjoyed the Felicia Hardy cameo although I would not have known it was her if I had not read it somewhere on the net in some review.

Seen it, thought it was awesome best superhero movie so far this year and it has to be the best Spider-man movie yet.

I knew what was happening when we got to the start of what would end up being Gwen's death, but God I did not want it to happen and that thud when she died, there were people in the cinema crying it was very well done.

Hot hot was Emma Stone looking, srsly though she looked amazing.

It doesn't IMO - I'm pretty much in agreement with TheRealJayDee's post - Some people seem to really enjoy it though so I suppose it's just not my type of film...

I had plans to make a big long post of exactly what I thought about, but I don't think I have it in me after that ending, good grief. I've never seen a cinema act up like that before. The gasp at the audible thud of the neck and the amount of people crying after... wow.

 

Of course, you don't have to even be a big spidey fan to know it was probably coming, but that only made it worse. The slow mo catch sequence was like 20 seconds of emotional torture. I think both Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are perfect for their roles with beautiful chemistry, and that just made it all the more harder on the feels.

 

Ugh, ok then. Briefly on the rest of it: I really enjoyed it, it was clearly trying to juggle a little too much at once, and there were a lot of weird little things too (Harry took to the goblin glider just like that, and that 'candles' line from Electro, dohoho) But no, I still really enjoyed it. Possibly more than Winter Soldier. idk.

I have only ever been in the cinema once before when people clapped at the end of the movie, and now I can say I have been in the cinema twice when the audience clapped, it was a very good movie. I'd see it again.

Well just saw this movie tonight. Crushing on Andrew a bit now.

 

Lots of strong performances. Odd editing, though. Lots of slow, romantic moments. Lots and lots of Gwen.

 

Overall I really enjoyed myself, though. I'd give it a solid 8/10.
