So, as soon as ME2 was available on steam, i pre-purchased the DigitalDeluxe edition. i've heard good things about the Cerberus network, and free DLC is always nice.
HOWEVER
i still need to do several ME1 playthroughs to get my "personal" shep ready for transfer. This means I probably won't be playing it on release day, but towards the end of the release week.
Is the "day one" DLC free ONLY FOR DAY ONE?
because i don't really want to start up a shepard in ME2 without having transferred my choices, but if i HAVE to just to get the day one DLC for free, i guess i will.
i'd like some clarification on this, thanks.
Rather urgent question concerning my Steam preorder/DLC

No. It is available for new purchases. It is available day one, but downloadable any time for free for those who purchased ME2 new (not secondhand).

No problem. Just send a "Collectors Edition" along with them.
