Sorry but i didn't saw templars making sacrifices killing 1000 of slaves for power or kiling childrens on their parties for fun so well... most of templars are well knight templars with some abuser when mages well most of them is or will end as insane laughing villain pretty much entire dragon age 2 and tevinter empire...

I only speak Portuguese, Italian, and English, TKS, please pick one.

also, you got the "insane giggling villain" thing from Kain and me in that thread lol, I'm pretty sure they don't do that.

In my opinion mages would be a dominant force in such a state clearly, but I'm not sure that slavery would be implemented. Certainly there would be abuses of power but again, not every circle mage is a evil moustache twirling magister. The entire base of Imperium is based on slavery and it'd be hard for them to reform that. A new mage state doesn't need to resort to that.

your basing that on a perspective that mage's who consort with demons, murdering people and becoming abominations is a bad thing.

their is no objective reality.

I'm amazed that Tevinter Imperium managed to last for over 2000 years being a magocracy

So being a mage does not automatically mean destroying yourself and those around you, right?  :P

Having thousands of mages in the same place doesn't equal creating a demon black hole. Correct :)

No, but I heard Templars abusing and torturing Mages in the Gallows.

I saw the implication of a corrupted Templar abusing his power with Tranquil Mages, whom also had a large following with him

You've listed off traits from Mages of Tevinter. We're not talking about Tevinter Mages. They're not even involved in this war, at least not to our knowledge. I'm strictly talking about the Mages that will have an impact made on their lives/Circle Mages in Kirwall/Ferelden/Orlais

Creating a society where normal people remain competetitive is in question tough.

I guess gunpowder would come in handy. Right now Qunari has a monopole on it though

Corrupted Templars can be just as evil as corrupted Mages.

Honestly, I can't even understand you.

Are you surprised? lol

I think there is a happy medium here. As long as the mages are not free, but are in fact reasonably priced, then we can avoid another Tevinter imperium.

Shhh, too logical

Yes ser alrik with few of his peoples and karas that a lot few templars... it isn't even high corruption with at least few hundreds of templars... pretty much same today can do police and with some examples being noted or recored but most they just get away with hell beating crap out of you is acceptable method in police as long they will get what they want from suspect...

And not so different with mages and tevinter... tevinter mages are those who have freedom well at least some of them those corrupted.

woah! who said anything about doomsday? what mage has wanted to bring about the end of the world? you seem determined to paint mages as cartoon villains.

and Im only half joking, take blood sacrifices as an example, your looking at it from the perspective that a slave is an equal person who doesn't deserve to murdered. But a tevinter would look at you oddly to a tevinter a slave is literally property they aren't equal so such opposition is incorrect its a non issue from their perspective.

a less macabre analogy is to look at the Chantry vs the Qun, there is no Inherent good or bad but to a qunari the chantry is superstitous nonsense and anyone that doesn't follow the Qun is a lessor being. To the chantry the Qun is Blasphemy, and those that follow it should be brought into the chantries light.

Most people who cause horrible things don't actually mean for them to happen that way. It's called historical irony.

Sadly not.

You can't judge every Mage in Thedas off of one group, especially one that has never been oppressed. I don't judge Templars as rapist pigs because Ser Alrik is a slime ball or as overzealous murderers because Meredith turned into a lunatic. There's good and bad in every group, on both levels. For you to assume one is worse than the other is ridiculous.

It's not the mage who slits his wrists while cackling maniacally that people should fear.

It's the mage who just invented electricity that can only be produced through the use of magic and who is now selling this to every country in Thedas that people should be scared of.

Why? Should Thedas turn its back on a such a drastically improved quality of life over the implication that it can only be installed and maintained by magic?

Also, please stop quoting TKS you guys.

Well i don't have to honestly they did that themeselves ;)

Well to be honest i couldn't care about killing someone but what i value is sanity most mages don't have that and insanity combined with powers that can destroy world not to mention abomnations that is something i want get rid of... so i say to stupid evil or destructive characters goodbye.

And no comparing chantry to guys who kill childrens well for fun which says a lot about sanity isn't very on place...

No? you did that before

you were judging group basing on minority there well few peoples i judge on majority so if for example majority of peoples in organization is corrupted we can say that organisation is corrupted when it is only minority you can't...

Not to mention that you call murderers guys who were killing corrupted and insane mages...

Yeah mages good sides ehhh aaa o i know they created new life called darkspawn wait bad example oh i know 1 anders was helping refugees for free oh and he then blew up church...

Thedas should seek this technology through means that do not marginalize the overwhelming majority of the population.

Runes would be a good alternative, for instance.

It kinda defeats the biggest pro mage argument which is against inequality if you're simply reversing the pendulum in favor of mages.
