How do you do objectives when not playing an infiltrator? Do you get mission fail if a non duration infiltrator is absent from your team?

 

I never leave the lobby without a duration infiltrator. That's just asking for failure.

I recommend trying it on Gold first, I was surprised at how well we did but it would have been nice to finish.

I don't see it as much of a big deal. Strenton and Caineghis have that recorded on videos on Youtube dating back from 2012. Both around thirty-something minutes long. Either version is not London/Collectors like the OP is.
Since 2012 this game has become somewhat easier, thanks mostly to the wonders of Incendiary glitching and Fire explosions. I am pretty sure a team of experienced players using Infiltrators with Incendiary Katanas, voice chat, unbreakable teamwork and well placed rockets can get it done. The real issue here is getting such team together, especially all four willing to promote. At least on PC and given the people I know, I would tell it is not easy.

One of the people in our group didn't want to promote, he used a respec card and only spent the 2 points you get at level 1.
