Are you playing right now? It gives you a really clear choice to kill him or not after the Chantry incident. You can't really mess it up accidentally. They literally ask you what you want to do. If you just pick the dialog option to not kill him you can talk to him afterwards and select the option to continue the relationship.

Happy to oblige!
If he is a 100% friend (regardless of romanceo) Hawke even goes to the length of understanding why Anders destroyed the chantry, Also before it happens after you complete his quest "Justice" the one that you have to distract the grand cleric, this is the only route that he tells you truth (well somewhat). He tells you that he has done something and he doesn't wish to involve Hawke in anyway because its incriminating. If in romance if you spare him and side with mages Anders kinda changes, he becomes more calm and focused and if you talk with him before facing meredith you will decide that you will escape together and Varric mentions that. Possibly you can escape with Isabela's ship if you gave it to her because she practically invites you AND Anders abroad to leave after you are done with Kirkwall.

He could always show up in a separate quest as an Arcane Horror. I mean, he would be a mage corpse with a demon stuck in it.

You don't need the ship. If the romance holds, Varric says that as time passed the companions drifted away from Hawke "well...except for *insert LI here*"

Yeah the Isabela part is kinda head canon but she does invite both of you if you are in romance with Anders to join her.

I've said before and I'll say again;
Speaking as someone who is not an Anders fan(loved him in Awakening, could hardly stand him in DA2), I hope he does return only in those playthroughs in which he is alive.
I think out of all the DA2 companions, he is far and away the one who makes the most sense to show up, more so than Varric, even.

Hopefully not, that terrorist better stay dead.

David Gaider actually stated outright that if you killed Anders, he is dead.

Another thing I've said before and am destined to repeat; I've never put out and out lying beyond any game developer.

Eh, I just like to acknowledge when I'm being repetitive. Helps me from feeling like a broken record.

Well its not true because many players spared him at least once in a playthrough and they are going to upload that save via the keep to see the consequences of that. Plus I think if we are talking about main playthroughs half the players kept him alive. Its not about how they feel about him, its about killing him or not killing him. I know some people here who hated his guts but did not kill him. And that is the point
i just don`t see how he could come back if you were given the choice to kill him , only my point of view .

Reminds me when I suggested that if you let Jowan escape in Origins he'd show up as an abomination.

You were given the choice to kill Alistair, and he's coming back.

The choice to kill Anders is just that; a choice. You say you don't see how he can come back; here's how;
Dragon Age Keep; click "killed Anders", Anders doesn't show up in your game; click "spared Anders", Anders does show up in your game. It's that simple.

We should also remember that Anders and Varric are the only companions from DA2 who are directly related to Inquisition, others companions are not even related a little bit. Varric is a companion which covers it. Anders has higher chance of appearing (if alive) than rest of DA2 companions. IF they are going to do cameos in general then I can pretty much guarantee he will appear. However they might not do cameos from DA2 in which case he might not appear.
