This is a general Dragon Age question, but it fits as well here as any other forum.

Traditionally, elves are willowy and pale and most elves in DA I can think of off the top of my head are very white.  Have there been any dark skinned elves in the games that you guys can remember?  When I say dark skinned, I'm thinking Mediterranean or Arabian skin tones.

There's obviously Riva and Antiva, the humans of which we've seen are dark skinned.  But since elves can't inherit human DNA, that doesn't mean the elven inhabitants are also dark skinned.

I do remember seeing dark skinned elves in Awakening and in the alienage in Kirkwall. The city elf's mother is, if I recall correctly, also dark skinned.

As for elves not being able to inherit human DNA, I'm not sure where you're getting that, but I don't think that's correct. If that were true, elves and humans would not be able to reproduce, which they are clearly able to. Human traits do appear to be dominant over elven ones.

I think he means that you can't ever have an elf with human ancestory since any children ever of an elf and another species is a non-elf.

Do you mean like, Fenris or someone darker then him? Fenris is fairly toasty compared to the other elves. Other then that I can't seem to remember any other ones, though the skin colors of DA where... rather lacking without mods.

When I get the option to in DAI I plan on my elf being toasty as long as it's an option.

Fenris and Zevran are pretty dark or tanned but do you mean dark skinned like Isabela? I haven't seen that dark elf yet.

Yes. Go to The Dalish camp in Origins and you'll see them.

One sits right next to the story teller.

She is the one who came to my mind too. ^_^

Fenris and Zevran were both dark, or at least brown.  Depends on how dark you mean.

I even gone out of my way to look for a picture... All I found was this obscure photo..

She's standing between the two male elves at the campfire. If you squint really hard, you'll see Bigfoot behind her.

Lots in DAO. Like Velanna, Zev, and Merethari. Fenris is the same skintone as Merethari, I think. Kind of goldish tan. Depends on lighting.

In DAO, the Brecellian/Dalish lighting is a bit weird.. some skintones come off lighter there. Tamlen is also the same skintone as Merethari and Fenris, but he doesn't look too dark in-game.

Oh yeah.  ^_^ I remember the woman at the Dalish Camp.  I went and grabbed a screenshot with a bit of console hackery.

She's wearing that the midriff bearing Dalish armour as well for maximum sunlight exposure.

I actually always thought Zevran was tanned, particularly since he was white in his concept art.

Zevran would still be dark, even if it was a tan. He has one of the "next to last" dark skin settings. Velanna/Fenris/Merethari have one of the middle ones, and closer to a tan.

There are dark skinned elves, as others have pointed out. The elven mage who Alistair speaks to at Ostagar has brown skin as well.

Presumably DA:I will be better at this since their engine can actually render skin that's a legitimately dark shade instead of looking weirdly tinged with violet (at least on my computer).

There was that dark-skinned Dalish elf, and one or two at the Alienage. Fenris could tentatively be called "dark-skinned" in that he's pretty tanned, I suppose.

But yeah, most of them seem to be pale.

That's cool about the CE mom and her appearance. I like it when protagonists have a family context.

I only have a Dalish (in which case, I based her somewhat on her tattoo.. the sign of Ghilan'nain, the Halla mother. So she's bright haired and light skinned. It has nothing to do with skintone per se, but just the symbolism of the Halla).
