I've been making my fiance play through DA:O recently (although he's been rather happy to) and he was playing a City Elf, and I noticed that one of the random NPC elves standing around in the Alienage was actually pretty dark-skinned. I think he looked like he was set as the same skintone as Isabela? Although it's always hard to tell in Origins...

And wow, I haven't played the Leliana DLC so I didn't realize that about the City Elf's mother. I think if we ever get a chance to recreate our Wardens I'll give mine darker skin to match her mother.

those skin tones are just randomly generated,

They are there to give a false sense of diversity

I think he means that you can't ever have an elf with human ancestory since any children ever of an elf and another species is a non-elf.

Yes they are born human. although I keep feeling.  their ancestry is still elf and human. The share that background..some how.   it might be the science real life talking. DNA is DNA still..even thought  mr.g said how they are born human..  now my.. dragon fan mode is going to talk.   being the disbelieving of reality.  There parent will still be a elf and one will be human..   So that has to mean something.. that your mother is still elf..and sister will still be your aunt.   But sadly..  at the end..even if a human is born all human.  being a parent of elf and humab..still will have it hard i bet in the dragon age world..

Actually, the racial diversity makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

The City Elf storyline has you set to marry someone from outside the Alienage, while it's mentioned that whenever the Dalish Clans meet every ten years, some people leave to join another clan. Both serve to prevent any inbreeding between various elven populations, hence why in both games you find Elves with different skin tones living in the same locations.

This series already has an underground caste system full of political intrigue and infighting! </Drow>

Yeah, no drow in this world, though I thought of them immediately.

nowhere does it state that elves from different places have different skin tones. And its not even racial diversity, there are no different races of elves, and those that mate with humans, their children just become human. Its just out of nowhere. Randomly generated to give a false sense of diversity.

I always thought of the Dalish to have more dark skinned people than city elves. I made a dalish elf and I made them like

Native American colored.

The Dales themselves would have been settled from all over the continent.  You would certainly expect that whatever different elvish ethnicities existed originally, in the pre-human days, would have been pretty extensively mixed up.  Though I would like to get a bit more sense that there's more going on than just random dark skinned elves scattered through a basically white elven population.

Are there elves with darker skin? Yes.

Are there elves that look like black humans with pointy ears? No. Or at least, not yet.

But then, the light-skinned elves don't look exactly like white humans either, so I don't see why this is a big issue.

I don't see how you can look at a question thread where people give a couple of answers and see 'a big issue.'

i don't know why people who knew about the reaper invasions didn't hide deep underground with their future tech, without telling anyone. I mean come on. What were the odds Shepard was going to succeed anyways. reapers won't know you are there, and you just have to wait a while until their huskies....decompose....thinking of which, why were they human husks on a million year old reaper that was dead in outer space?

And since we've seen Elves with darker skin tones (take Zevran for instance), clearly they do!

Are you trying to honestly say that since we don't see that many elves who are main characters with darker skin tones, suddenly all the racial diversity shown by minor elven characters becomes non-existent and is simply put in to fool us into thinking that it exists?

That my friend, sounds like some Insane Troll Logic of Catalyst level proportions?

Zevran, he's slightly tanned, and not even that dark. Plus its not insane troll logic, because... its exactly that, they want to indeed make us think it exists.

Chasind_Wilders.png

Look at the Chasind. Racially they come directly from the same ancestral clans as the Fereldens, the whitest folk you know. But because they are the barabrians, they are just given a randomly dark skin tone. To make them seem different when they are not. They actually live in colder climates than ferelden.

well, yes there are plenty of examples... but if your asking for the distinct line between regular elves and dark elves like in other rpgs, then no they are just elves

Reapers can sense organics with their quantum entanglement indoctrination waves. Organics have to be undergound on a planet reapers don't think to look to lose them.

Some people did. Just look at Ilos. But then, it never works out well. Just look at Ilos.

Husks don't decompose. All organic material is replaced with cybernetic material.

As for the Husks on the Derelict Reaper, those used to be the Cerberus team that was working on it. You're sent to see why they dropped contact.

The cerberus team encountered husks that were there before their arrival, one of them said they saw grey figures in the shadows

That was indoctrination taking effect. One of the signs is seeing shadows. All those terminals were showing the team slowly get indoctrinated.

you have to be close to it to get noticed by the quantum entanglement indoctrination waves, as for planets just go on planets that are not populated like mars or under the sea like the space squids or maybe under the Sahara desert
